"Drat." I hissed to myself. As the first raindrops plopped down on my head.
I hadn't meant to go on a stroll in the woods on the stormiest night of the year, but I had already snuck out, so there was no turning back.
Soon enough a drizzle turned into a downpour, and rain weighed down my already heavy clothes and plastered my strawberry blonde bangs to my forehead.
"Goddammit Graeme," I muttered to no one in particular. "there's no way the guards won't notice your clothes tomorrow."
But then again, when you're around 27th in line for the throne, nobody is really gonna care you were out here tonight.
Bitter thoughts about my father filled my head as I trudged through the mud, I was sure just thinking these things about a king were grounds for treason, but he wouldn't have to know.
I turned my attention back to my surroundings and realized that I had absolutely no idea where I was.
These woods were more of a home than the castle was to me when I was little, but in the dark of night, in the middle of a storm, they had become unrecognizable.
It's alright, I thought to myself. The worst that could happen is that you would need to stay out here until the storm clears up.
That's as bad as it could get...
My thoughts trailed off as an uneasy feeling sunk into my skin. I felt as if someone was watching me from the shadows.
I ignored the thought in the back of my head telling me that the someone I sensed, was more of a something.author's note
