"After the events that transpired in Hoenn 7 years ago, I have been open to new life. I have bettered myself which naturally resulted in me losing a lot. For example, Brendan. After he caught Rayquaza and destroyed the meteor he left, it was like he was erased from the earth. Oh well, just when we started to become good friends. I'm writing this because I just lost something else. I lost my father 3 hours ago to heart disease."
-A month later-
Max: -sighs- Mommy!! Are we going to be there yet!? I feel like I've been stuck in the car forever!!
May: -presses the button that puts the windows down- Here you go, you can always jump out when you want -smiles-
Max: -hits her- That's not funny!!
May: Oww!! -hits him back-
Caroline: That's enough you two, look ahead. We're finally pulling up to the area
May: -looks out the window-
"Aw yes, the countryside. My dad's favorite place to be. This is where most of my family is, and where my dad was raised. We come here every year for Thanksgiving and Easter. This will be the first Easter without him. We entered the drive-thru of my family's large home."
Caroline: Come on kids, say hello to your aunts and uncles!
Max: Uhhh!! I hate talking to them -gets out of the car-
Caroline: -puts her hand to May's face- Honey, please at least try to greet them
May: Mom, I don't feel like doing this this year. It will never be the same without him.
Caroline: Your father loved you so very much, he would want you to enjoy yourself. He was all about family, so he would want you to be with your family. -kisses her head- I know it's hard, we're all struggling with this, so in his memory let's make this a Good Friday, and a good Easter
May: Thanks mom... -They both get out of he car-
Brenda: Look at you beautiful ladies!
Caroline: Brenda you look stunning as always
Brenda: Come on, look at you, you don't look a day over 40
-they hug each other-
Brenda: And how's my adorable little niece doing!! -rubs her hair-
May: I'm doing good Auntie Brenda, it's nice to meet you again -leaves toward the house-
Brenda: How is she holding up?
Caroline: -sighs- We just had the funeral on Sunday, so it might be a while before she is fully cheered up
Brenda: Hmph...
"Like usual I greeted my family members and just went straight to an empty room."
May: -jumps on the bed- I don't want to do this, this year, uhhhh!!
-someone knocks on the door-
Yancy: knock knock, anyone home?
May: Hey, Yancy! How are you doing?
Yancy: How are you doing my favorite little cousin -tickles her-
May: Haaha stop!! -takes a deep breath- Was your trip from Unova safe?
Yancy: Of course, I'm here in one piece!! -hugs May-
May: Uhh!? W-wha-'
Yancy: I'm sorry I wasn't here for Uncle Owen's funeral -tightens her hold on her-
May: N-no it's ok
Yancy: -let's go and look May in the eyes- Regardless, how are you doing?
May: I'm just tired. I don't really feel like moving
Yancy: -drags her off the bed- Come on now!! You just got here, get up!
May: Fine!! -shouts-
"We went outside to hang out with our other cousins. A few hours passed and honestly, I wasn't really too happy. Still, I was disappointed about not having my father here. He would play hide and seek with us, and let me tell you that the old man could run."
May: Hey guys, go back without me, I want to explore a bit!!
Summer: Ok, don't get lost!!
May: I won't!! -waves her hand bye-
"I wandered the forest a bit, finding many different Pokémon and berries. All I wanted was some alone time really. I then saw a huge lake and headed toward it. I wasn't ready for what I saw next."
May: -focuses her eyes- Is that a girl?
-The girl turns around and stops May-
Zinnia: Woah, a visitor!! -gets out the lake drying herself off- I'll be done in a minute-
"I turned around waiting for at least a minute before the strange girl came over to me."
May: Um...who are you?
Zinnia: -sniffs May's clothes and touches her hair- The name is Zinnia and this is Aster, and you are May Birch, right?
May: Wait Zinnia!? You're the girl that stole those mega stones, and battled Brendan, right?
Zinnia: Yes, I met your mother but we never officially meant have we? Well, your buddy was really something though -grabs her hand- Let's walk over here for a bit!!!
May: O-oh ok!
"I remember seeing this girl Zinnia on the news, it made headlines all over Hoenn. I also remember seeing her with Brendan. What was she doing here?"
Zinnia: You like Pokémon right? -pushes her into a batch of leaves-
-Wild Zigzagoon start jumping all over May-
Zinnia: -laughs hysterically- Hahahaha you guys are having fun!!
May: -gets up quickly- What the hell was that for, jeez!!
Zinnia: -lightly taps her shoulder- You seem to be a bit down, but now you're fully awake
May: -gives her a stern face-
Zinnia: Hehehehe!!! Let's keep moving
"We walked for multiple minutes, exploring the view as well as playing with Pokémon. Zinnia kept messing with me the whole way through, I think she's crazy."
May: What are you still doing here?
Zinnia: Look ahead, we're here
"Just up ahead we saw giant ruins, extremely massive in size"
May: What is this place? Wait, is this the place where Brendan caught Rayquaza!?
Zinnia: Correct!! -taps her nose- Come little human, for I the Lorekeeper will tell you the Lore of my people!!
"Zinnia explained a bunch of things with Rayquaza, her people, and the primal versions of the legendary Pokémon of this region. It was a lot of information."
Zinnia: Your friend Brendan was a pretty quiet human, he seemed to believe everything I said.
May: Yeah, he was one of a kind...
Zinnia: Where is he now?
May: Well, after the meteorite was destroyed he basically disappeared. I'm guessing he most likely continued his journey in another region knowing him. But what about you? What are you still doing here?
Zinnia: Come on, let's go further up!!
"That was the second time she ignored my question. I could tell it triggered her because her expression changed suddenly. She was not good at hiding her emotions at all."
May: -stops her- That's the second time you ignored my question. Is something wrong?
Zinnia: -stops laughing- Wooah!! Hahaha, I don't know!! I was supposed to watch over Rayquaza and the history of my ancestors. But Rayquaza didn't choose me, it chose him. After that my life and purpose became meaningless. -slams her hand on the wall and breaks a piece of the structure- Even all these ancient writings you see are really just meaningless. I'm the last of my people and I couldn't even do the job I was given. I've been here since then with my buddy Aster!! As you can see we're doing just fine!! -smiles and gives May a thumbs up-
May: You lost your people, yet you're still this energetic. -sits down- I lost my father a month ago, we just had his funeral recently, I have been really out of it since then.
Zinnia: Professor Birch huh? He's not dead
May: -gave her a confused look- He is, he died from a heart disease
Zinnia: From a heart disease? Then he's right here -points to her heart-
Zinnia: Yes these ancient writings and images are meaningless, but the people behind them aren't. My people put their full belief and trust within these walls, as long as these ruins still stand they're not dead
"Something lit up in me. These past several weeks I have been given the same response. It was surprising hearing that answer, but still. Zinnia seemed to have a hint of sorrow, especially when she mentioned the name Aster when we first met."
May: You're clan, they used dragon types as you said right? Then why do you own a Whismur
Zinnia: Oh Aster, well um. He was my older sister's Pokemon. He's named after her actually. U-uh u-um, s-she reincarnated into Whismur. Sbe always with me in him -holds Whismur- She's the only family and the only thing I live for now. I have accomplished nothing as a Lorekeeper, so it's re-
May: -interrupts her- You're wrong, you helped save the world.
Zinnia: -looks at May with a saddened face- I haven't done anything, even the people of my clan said I lack talent
May: Yes, some people may naturally do something better, maybe that's talent. But true talent is achieved when you work hard for it, I know that firsthand. I have never beaten Brendan, it was frustrating losing and losing and losing. I realized that Brendan just simply worked harder than me. -taps the ground- Come on sit down
Zinnia: O-ok... –stis down-
"Zinnia seemed to be confused, maybe this was the first time she heard something like this. After hearing her I felt a force pushing me to help her."
May: My father once told me something, it was after my final battle with Brendan. He said, "So what if you lost, battle him again, and then another time, and even more after that. Time doesn't stop for you, so you have to continue moving forward. Loss will happen, but it's used as a means to grow yourself."
Zinnia: -smiles- Thank you -slaps her back-
May: Ow Ow ow!! Don't do that!!
Zinnia: Hahahahaha!! Sorry, I'm not really much for kind gestures! -gets up joyfully- It's getting late, you should head back to where you came from.
May: -stands up- I guess you're right. I'm not going to be able to visit you tomorrow, I have a family event
Zinnia: That's fine, be with your family, me and Aster will be here.
"We started going down the steps playfully talking about random things. I learned a lot about her. For example, she was able to identify that 7 years have passed just by looking at the stars."
Zinnia: Well see you later May!! Remember to come back before you leave -waves her hand bye-
May: Bye Zin!!
"She is a good person, I wish I could have stayed longer though. A sudden emotion came over me, I wanted to say one last thing before I leave."
May: -turned around and ran back to Zinnia- ZINNIA!!!
Zinnia: -turns back- Huh? YES!?
May: LIVE YOUR LIFE!! -turns back around and starts sprinting
Zinna: -smiles- Thank you, May
"After a long, trivial walk, I managed to get back to the house. They questioned where I was for so long, yada yada yada. Anyway, we had a family dinner and then went to our rooms."
May: -stares up at the ceiling- What a good day -smiles
Max: Stop talking to yourself, I'm trying to sleep here!
May: Shut up!! -grabs a pillow and throws it at him-PART 1: Good Friday
