After getting ready for the day, I exit my tent and walk up to the conversation just as Daryl says "The idea is to take the creek up about five miles, turn around and come back down the other side. Chances are she'll be by the creek. It's her only landmark" "Stay quiet and stay sharp. Keep space between you but always stay within sight of each other" my dad tells them "Everybody assemble your packs. Keep on those repairs. We've got to get this R.V. ready to move" Shane adds.

"We won't stay here a minute longer than we have to. Good luck out there. Bring Sophia back" Dale says "Keep an eye on Carl while we're gone" dad tells me "Oh, uh-ahh" I say as Carl adds "We're going with you. You need people, right? To cover as much ground as possible" this makes dad look at Lori who says "Your call. I can't always be the bad guy" as she expects him to say 'No'.

As he mentally debates this Dale says "Well, they have all of you to look after them. I'd say they're in good hands" making dad agree "Okay. Okay. But always within our sight, both of you, no exceptions" we nod in agreement and as we start to walk dad tugs my arm and whispers to me "No matter what happens, you stay with Daryl, alright?" I look at him and nod before going over to stand by said man.

After a few moments we head off.

As we walk through the wood Carl runs up to Shane to show him the hatchet he was given "Shane, look. Dad said I could carry it and mom said as long as I was-" Carl starts hopeful "Keep it down. We're looking for Sophia. You need to focus on the task" Shane says dismissively.

I give him a withering look before pulling Carl to my side and saying "Keep up, honey, don't want you getting lost too" "I am" Carl responds "You okay?" Daryl asks from my side and Carl shrugs "I think Shane's still mad at mom....why does he have to be mad at me too? We're separate people.

I frowned and shook my head "Because Shane's a jerk" this makes Daryl huff and adds "That's an understatement. Has he been talking to Carl like that all day?" I look up at him after wrapping my arm around Carl's shoulders "It's been like this for a few days now " Daryl's eyes narrowed "He's seriously letting his ego get in the way of hanging out with a cool guy like Carl?"

Carl looks up at Daryl and asks "You think I'm cool?" Daryl says "Heck yeah, little man" with a smirk on his face making me smile. Before anything more could be said we came to a stop in front of an abandoned campsite.

"She could be in there" Dad says "Could be a whole bunch of things in there" Shane scoffs "Carol. Call out softly. If she's in there, yours is the first voice she should hear" dad tells her bringing Carol closer to the front "Sophia, sweetie, are you in there? Sophia, it's mommy. Sophia. We're all here, baby. It's mommy" Carol calls out. After a moment of silence Daryl enters the frame, leaving my side to investigate further with his crossbow.

He enters the tent before backing out with a disgusted look on his face and returning to my side "Daryl?" "Daryl?" Carol and I both ask "It ain't her" he states "What's in there?" I ask concern by his face "Some guy. Did what Jenner said. Opted out. Ain't that what he called it?" Daryl says and I nodded.
