It was peaceful. Quiet. Yet their thoughts filled the air with millions of words and meanings. They laid calmly on the grass, glancing up at the stars.
"They're beautiful" Madelyn whispered, breaking the silence.
Zane tilted his head, looking at her, as if she was the only thing there. He then whispered "If only its beauty could match yours."
She turned her head, and stared into his eyes. She didn't say anything, simply smiled. And he smiled back, lifting his chin to gently kiss her forehead.
He moved closer and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. Holding her as if he was protecting her from the world.
As she glanced up, her face filled with fear, yet disappointment. He wasn't there. Madelyn looked around but Zane wasn't there.
The sun began to rise and Madelyn covered her eyes with her hand. Looking around to see that she was still outside. Yet she doesn't remember all that well of how she got there. All she remembers was a slight memory of Zane.
"Mady! Are you out here? Mady!" Her mother shouted, standing at the door clenching her robe.
"Uh, yeah mom. I'm here." She replied.
Her mother looked into her direction and said "Madelyn come inside dear it's going to get a bit chilly outside. You don't even have a sweater!"
"Alright mom, I'm coming" Madelyn said, rising to her feet. She began walking to the door, but then stopped. She glanced back, hoping for a figure.
But there was nothing.
