Jayden and I walked hand-in-hand through the house, looking for everyone around the house.  Honestly, the only people we were truly looking for were Emi and Seth.

Emi and Seth are the only two people who have a deep understanding of what transpired over the last few years.  They deserved to know the outcome and that this night turned out positively for all of us.

The two of them were laughing animatedly with a few of our other friends.  Parker had his arms around Emi, while she leaned on his bicep every time she laughed.

"Welcome to the party losers!" Seth grinned.

Jayden and I stepped into our circle of friends.

"You are aware this is my party, right? Why are you welcoming me to a party I've been at for hours?"

Emi looked over her shoulder and her eyes cast downwards to my hand in Jayden's. She smiled at me and squeezed my arm.

"Have the wrong's of the world been fixed?" Emi asked.

I peeked up at Jayden. He was already looking down at me.

Without using words, I knew what he was trying to say. He wanted me to answer the question, because I'm the one who put distance between us in the first place.

No matter how happy I am, I'm still terrified of how this has and will affect Jayden.

His mind works differently. His thoughts send him spiraling down and he never feels like he's good enough. When I abandoned him and the rest of our friends, I'm scared that I solidified that feeling.

"Yeah. They have," I smiled.

"Good!" Emi squealed, disentangling herself from Parker and calling for everyone to come into the kitchen. She and Parker grabbed two giant cakes out of the refrigerator. "It's time for the best part of my birthday. Everyone needs to sing Happy Birthday to Jayden and me!"

I rolled my eyes. Emi is the most selfless person I know, yet she loves when her birthday centers around her two favorite people. Jayden. And herself.

One of the cakes had black fondant. I don't know the flavor of the cake, but I knew this one belonged to Emi. Alongside the black fondant, gold and silver frosting surrounded the cake. Decorations made out of sugar in the shape of books pours over the side of the cake. One book had writing on it that said, I Love Studying.

It's the perfect cake for Emi.

Parker put the other cake next to Emi's.

Jayden's cake had white fondant with green decorations. All the decorations related to hockey. There were hockey sticks, hockey pucks, and other green decorations that perfectly represent Jayden.
