After we heard the gunshot next to our house. I looked at my worried father and I felt panicked. My dad got up and checked through the crack of the boarded up windows. He turned to the TV as an emergency broadcast begins:
Attention New Orleans and bordering cities, we have activated code red, Please stay inside. This will be the last broadcast you hear. The riots have begun. The West fence has fallen, the dead are coming. If you feel sick please stay away from everyone. May Peace be brought to you. May mercy be among you.
Most didn't think it's real. gunshots went through one by one. Bang...bang...bang the sound of the bullets leaving their chamber entering the body of who were once my neighbors. Killing them one by one on the street. Bang..bang...bang the sound of echoing gunshots approaching towards us. Shooting everyone even if they aren't sick.
Never ending torturous sounds of the guns that are taking the lives of the ones once loved from them. Ripping the living out of humanity and discarding them like they aren't people. The echo sound of bullets leaving a chamber got closer.
My dad yelled for all of us to grab our bags. I ran up the stairs grabbing my things and then ran to grab my youngest brother Tatum and grabbed his bag. I carried him down the stairs and made sure Kennedy got out. I gave tatum to my dad then helped my two younger siblings Skylar and James get everything they needed then took them downstairs. We gathered everything useful left in our house. We heard another gunshot close.
My dad grabbed his guns from the safe in his room then we hurried out to his police car. We drove as fast as we could, ignoring all the dead trying to get to us. Ignoring the neighbors, who screamed for help as we drove away. We exited section one and headed towards section 2. I wasn't sure what my dads plan for us was.
I watched out the window as my dad drove past about a dozen people on the side of the road begging for help. He didn't stop but how could he risk stopping when he has 8 kids of his own to take care of. I watched as one couple got torn down by one of the monsters. I saw it tearing at their flesh ripping as they screamed. I eventually fell asleep as my dad drove and drove.
