“Welcome to the 2012-2013 girls high school football championship.!” The speaker booms causing me to jump. I was broken out of my thoughts by the over perky announcer. I have had a lot on my mind lately, which sucks because I need to focus. We need to win this game for me to get my scholarship. “Okay. Everyone huddle up.” Coach Brock yelled. We all formed in a circle, arms across each others' backs. “Ladies.” Coach began. “We have had great season this year, but let's make it the best by winning this.!” We all cheered. “Now, all the seniors, it has been awesome being your coach these past four years. The college that gets you all are going to be lucky.” She was mainly looking at me the whole time, which made me happy. I smiled and yelled, “Hands in.” We all put our hands in a circle. “One, Two, Three. Butterflies and Rainbows.!” We all laugh as the finish calling the other team out to the field. You may be wondering why we say Butterflies and Rainbows. Well, It puts all in a good mood before we go and play. Now we are all getting called out by name, and I'm in the last one because I'm team captain. “Mesha Walters. Number 45.” The speaker called as she runs out on the field. “Ashlyn Milton. Number 69.” I pat her back as she smiles and runs off with her hands up. “And your team captain, Isabella Hampton.! Number 13.!” The crowd starts going mad. I don't see why though. Everyone hates me...
~ ~ Flashback ~ ~
“I'm sorry Isabella but we can't be together anymore.” He words cut like knifes to my heart. He turned to walk away and I grabbed his arm. “But Niall, we have together for over four years. You can't.” He shook his head, tears threatening to pour out of his eyes. While mine were all ready staining my cheeks. He got free of my hold and faced me. “Maybe four years is too long.” I was crying even harder now. “But Nialler,” He cut me off. “Don't call me that. You have no right to now.” And with that he left. Just walked away.
~ ~ End Flashback ~ ~
A tear rolled down my cheek but I quickly wiped it before anyone noticed. Right there is the reason everyone hates me. Because, he told everyone I dumped him because of football. Only Ashlyn, Mesha, Liam, and Coach know what really happened. That was a year ago today. That was the reason we lost last year. But this year, I'm ready and I'm going to win this. We flip a coin and our team gets the ball first. We go back to our side and the coach tells us the game plan. We walk out on the field. I love the smell of the fresh cut grass. Intense stares are exchanged between players as the referee blows his whistle. And we're off. Once I have the ball I zig- zag through everyone and made the first goal of the night.
