It's the first night living at Dream's house, and Sapnap can't sleep. New bedsheets, new bed, new room, new house. Everything is new. And Sapnap doesn't like that.
After turning around in his bed for what feels like the hundredth time, he throws the blanket off of himself. It is way too warm. He hasn't worked out how the AC unit works.
He sits himself up to look around his room. It's so empty. There's a dozen boxes laying around, waiting to be unpacked.
He stares at the door, not knowing what exactly he's waiting for. For Dream to come in and keep him company? Maybe. But that's a ridiculous request. Dream went to sleep hours ago.
Sapnap decides that there's no point in trying to go back to sleep and gets up. His bare feet touching the cold ground of the floor wake him up even more.
Silently, he trotts downstairs and into the kitchen. Everything is still so new to him. It doesn't feel like home quite yet. But he knows that it's just going to take some time to get used to.
He opens the fridge, scanning it for something to eat. When he takes out some chocolate and turns around, he's greeted with two big black eyes staring up at him.
"Jesus, you scared the shit out of me!" Sapnap kneels down to pet his new companion, Patches. "I can't believe you're my cat as well now. You're so cute." He scratches her behind her ear. Her favorite spot, or at least that's what Dream told him.
When he goes to stand up again, he's greeted by another set of eyes.
He looks extremely sleepy but still has a smile on his face.Sapnap stares at him for a moment but then gets the courage to speak up. "Did I wake you up? I'm so sorry if I did. I couldn't sleep and-" He gets cut off by a chuckle from Dream. "Don't worry. I couldn't sleep either. I was way too excited thinking about the fact that you're finally here."
"So, what do we do now?" Sapnap lays his eyes back onto Patches, who is now snuggling against Dream's legs. "We could watch a movie. Or we could try going back to sleep."
"Movie sounds great." Sapnap gives Dream a big smile, and Dream just nods in response. He carefully picks up Patches, and together they make their way into the living room.
Dream goes to sit down first, placing Patches on his lap and reaching for the remote, conveniently placed where he always sits. Sapnap sits down a few feet away from him, covering himself with the blanket that's been lying on the couch since he first arrived.
"So, what kind of movie do we want to watch?" Dream clicks on the Netflix icon. "Anything but horror." Sapnap snuggles into the blanket.
Dream turns his head to him, a smug smile plastered on his face. "What, scared?" He clicks onto the horror section.
"No. I-" Sapnap doesn't finish his sentence. Of course he's scared, and of course he doesn't want to admit it. So, he guesses he's just going to have to get through with it. "Fine. Put on horror, then. I'll prove to you that I'm not scared."
He already regrets having said that within the first five minutes of the movie.
He hides his face under the blanket, scared that there's going to be another jump scare. There's already been two, and the movie has just started. He hates jump scares. But what he hates even more is admitting his weaknesses.
He takes a glance at Dream. And surprisingly, he looks just as scared as he feels. What an idiot, of course he's also scared of horror movies. He just wanted to put it on to torture Sapnap.
But at least Dream has Patches to calm him down, Sapnap is completely on his own.
Sapnap starts paying attention to the movie again. And just as he does, another jump scare startles him. That's it. He's not doing this any longer. He quickly grabs the remote, laying next to Dream, and pauses the movie.
