-A phone is ringing-
May: -wakes up- Whhaaaaatt. Damn, who is calling me this early? -looks at the caller-
May: It's Drew!!
"I meant Drew 2 years ago in high school. He asked me out on Christmas Day, we've been together ever since."
Drew: How is my beautiful Mayflower doing
May: Charming as always I see
Drew: Hehehe. How are you enjoying yourself?
May: It's been pretty fun so far
Drew: I can tell, your voice seems to have more energy
May: How can you tell all that -yawns- I just woke up
Drew: Come on, I know my own girlfriend both inside and outside if you know what I mean
May: -blushes- Go be horny somewhere else!!
Drew: I'm joking I'm joking. Anyway, I let you go now, call me later and remember, have fun. Bye, I love you!
May: I love you too!
"Drew is a unique person. He is extremely smart, top 3 in our grade actually. He just seems to know everything, but when he's with me, he acts so childish. It's kinda adorable really, I love that he can express that side of him to me. I just wish I could be a better girlfriend. Ever since my dad died I have shut myself off from everyone."
Max: -knocks on the door and opens it- Mom said to get reay, we're heading out in 30 minutes
May: Hey Max -lightly taps her bed twice- Come here, let's talk
Max: -tits his head confused- Why do I have to do that?
May: Just sit alright!
Max: Ughhh!! -closes the door and sits next to May- What do you want?
May: -pulls Max in for a hug-
Max: W-what!?
May: How are you doing Max-ie? -laughs-
Max: Why are you hugging me!?
May: Sorry, I just had a sudden urge to hug my adorable little brother. You're the only one I have after all. -holds him tighter- Losing you would really hurt me, you know? I knew how much you loved Dad, so it must have been really hard for you to lose him, especially at your age. It's ok to cry you know, you cried more than me when he died
Max: I-I c-cant cry anymore. I'm supposed to be a man, I'm not a girl!
May: But you're just a kid. And there's nothing wrong with crying, ok -smiles-
Max: -tears start forming in his eyes and he wipes them away-
May: -points to his heart- Dad is here
"If I'm going to be completely honest I still didn't fully understand what Zinnia said. I guess you could interpret in any way you want."
May: -hits his back- Let's go little Maxie
Max: Ow ow ow!! That hurts!!
May: -chuckles- Sorry, just a little kind gesture
"After a couple of minutes we all got ready and went to a private building my family owned. One we walked in there was food on the tables on each side of the walls and beautiful decorations all over. Most of my family were here too, mostly my dad's. My mom was an only child and came from a fairly small and underclass family. I talked with all of my cousins and the event went fairly well, but now for the main event!! The Easter Egg Hunt!! The rules are fairly simple, first to find 10 eggs to win, but then my Aunt said something that gave me a confused look."
Brenda: I'll say this again, thanks for coming again this year everyone!! Hope you're all having fun. Now this year we're going to do the egg hunt and it's a little different. Instead of collecting 10 eggs to win, first to find 5 eggs all each a different color win. The colors are red, blue, green, yellow, and pink. This new variation is a tribute to my late brother, Owen Birch! Please enjoy. Oh, one more thing, you can't open your egg until you collect all 6
"New variation huh? Ok, it wasn't too much different than before. This will be easy!! The bell rang and we went egg hunting!"
Yancy: "May" the best man win
May: That joke is getting old you know?
Yancy: -laughs- Still funny to me!! But you should try to win this year, it is tributed to your dad after all
May: I know that, but in all my eyes doing this I haven't won a single time, and you won at least 4 times
Yancy: Actually 5, but who's counting. Hahaha!!
"Things are going good so far. I already found 3 eggs (green, yellow, and blue) and I saw a pink egg in a bush."
Summer: - sprints behind May- Not today May!!
May: Uhh, Summer!! Get away, I saw it first -starts running-
"Come on, I faced way harder challenges than this! I'm not losing to her again!"
May: -runs faster for a split second grabbing the egg before Summer- Hahahhha yes!!! Take that!!
Summer: Hmph... -walks away-
May: Now one more
Yancy: -comes up from behind her- Same here
May: Yance, you already have all 4, well I'm not surprised though
Yancy: Yeah but I can't find any red eggs!!
May: Then we'll just have to look harder!
"About 10 minutes passed and everyone was looking for a red egg that was nowhere to be found. I was just about ready to give up."
Summer: Yoo, has anyone found a red egg!?
Lanette: -sighs- Nope
Brigette: Mother hasn't gotten better at hiding these eggs
"I was getting tired, so I went to get some water and just sat down on a chair next to my Grandpa."
May: -sighs and looks at the floor- I can't win, not even when it's a tribute to my father...
Grandpa: -does that iconic old man laugh- Hahahahaha, looks like Brenda did a good job!! Are you sure you're looking in the right place?
May: Where else is there to look, every place has been checked
Grandpa: Every place? Are you sure about that?
May: What do you mean?
Grandpa: Say May, what do you think is the point of this egg hunt. To win, to get candy? -chuckles- It's family
May: I know that bu-
Grandpa: Are you sure that you truly know that?
"What exactly is he saying? I know Grandpa wouldn't say stuff without a reason. I could tell he was trying to tell me something, but yet again, I couldn't figure it out."
Grandpa: Did you know that your father originally started this egg hunt when he was a child?
May: Yes
Grandpa: Did he ever tell you the meaning
May: -pauses for a moment-
Grandpa: There was no need to tell you the meaning. It's because you're already living it. Your father, my son, was all about family, and do you think that he would want you to cherish this family too? Yes, that is the marvelous truth. -points to May- You may have lost someone, but don't forget what you have right now. You have not only people who love you around you, but you have a future you can push forward too. Use that loss to better yourself as well as the people around you. That is when you'll see the true answer and the true meaning.
"I was... astonished. It felt like I couldn't move, couldn't talk, or couldn't see. All My senses went off from this realization.
May: I see, I finally see. -stands up- I know where the last egg is!
Grandpa: -smiles- Go get it!
May: -smiles back- Yeah!!
"To think I'd learn so much in just a short time. From Zinnia's perspective, and now from my Grandfather. I finally grasp the understanding my father had all along. I walked straight towards the answer, where I reached my mother."
Caroline: -stands up and smiles- That look in your eyes -puts her hand on May's face- You find me, didn't you honey -grabs the red egg out of her pocket-
"I was borderline ready to cry, but I had to hold it in a little longer."
May: I'm sorry Mom, that I was distant
Caroline: It's ok honey, you just lost your father, anyone would feel the same
May: But I failed to realize that even if I lost someone, I still have a lot. You, Max, everyone here -points to all of her family members-
Caroline: -smiles and hugs May- I'm so proud of you. I love you so much
May: I love you too mom
Brenda: -smiles and gets on the mic- I guess we have our winner!! It's May!!
"Overwhelming joy went through my body. I didn't even care that I won...well, I cared a little, but still."
Brenda: No open the eggs
"I gathered all 6 different colored eggs and opened them on a table. There was no candy in them, but it seemed to be pieces of a picture. I put all the pieces together, and...I couldn't hold it in anymore. The 6 pieces put together formed a picture of my father. All the emotions I kept in these past several weeks came out, and I cried, I cried harder than ever before. After that, together with me and the rest of my family we all have a big Easter feast. What a Blessed Saturday."
-Switching to Zinnia POV-
Zinnia: -on a grass field staring at the stars- That May girl said to live my life. What exactly do you think that means Aster? How can I live my life without a purpose? You once told me all of our ancestors are within the stars. If so, then why haven't you talked to me. I need you here NOW!!! -screams at the sky-
"May said I was energetic, deep down I know that's not true. After talking with her all of yesterday I have realized many things. I'm not energetic, I'm not crazy, I'm just lost. I've been here in the same place with no purpose."
Zinnia: Why am I still here? Is it really because I want to preserve my ancestors' history, or is it because I'm lost. Ever since I lost you, I haven't cried not once, I lost the emotion of fear and sadness
"Aster, my older sister died long ago. She was the previous Lorekeepe before me, and she was the best. But there was always one thing I never understood. One time she told me to become a Lorekeeper, not of our people's history, but for myself."
Zinnia: -looks at Whismur-
"I named Whismur after my sister to pay tribute to her, but was that really the case? I treated you like my sister, not like a pokemon. Was it because I never accepted her death? Was it because I was lost, ohhh damn what the hell are these emotions."
Zinnia: Dammit -tears start forming from her eyes-
Zinnia: Just exactly when did I start tricking myself? -puts her hand on Whismur-
Zinnia: Aster no, Whismur. I'm sorry, in order to keep my sister's memory alive I used you. I used you as a fake Aster, without any consent for your feelings.
"I think I finally get the meaning of death and loss. I think I found it. I have to meet with May tommorow, I need to tell her what I've learned."
Zinnia: -smiles at the stars- Good night Aster, bath in the stars now and forever. As the night sky ends, so will this Holy Saturday
