It was a quiet, dark night. The clouds hovered over the bright full moon as the wind around me swooshed through my blonde hair. "I'm beginning to feel as if this was a bad idea, Athena." My friend Reina said from beside me as she shivered in her thick jacket.

I rolled my eyes before clicking on the flashlight I held in my hands. It flickered as if it was dead but shined brightly soon after. "Yeah? Well, I want to see if there really is a well made of gems in here." I replied coldly, causing her to frown at my response.

I stepped onto the path leading into the dark mysterious woods, instantly sending a shiver down my spine. I looked around at my three friends, watching all their faces fall flat once they stepped behind me.

I sucked in a breath between my teeth before whipping my head back around towards the woods filled with tall green trees. We continue to walk deeper into the path, jumping at the sound of every stick we step on.

The bushes surrounding us shook loudly as if someone else was with us. "Maybe we should come back during the day..." Lou said cautiously as she slowly hid herself behind her friends.

Aspen shook their head at Lou, who was aching from fear. "The gems only shine with a full moon's glare." Aspen reminded, yet second guessing their own choices.

I curled my lip in curiosity as I shined the light of my flashlight on the shaking bush. The shaking quickly stops as the light inspected its leaves, growing my curiosity more. I step closer to the small bush, kneeling down to its height.

The rattling quickly came back before a large rabbit jumped out of the bush and ran away, startling me deeply. I stifled a laugh followed by a sigh of relief. "It was just a rabbit." I smiled softly to myself before turning my head around, expecting to meet with my friends' cheeky grins.

Though I wasn't greeted by any smiles, I returned to no one's presence around me. I stumbled back onto my feet, turning my head in every direction to find my friends. "Guys?" I said calmly, even though my insides were flipping inside out.

I bit my lip in hopes of finding them, praying it's some kind of joke they're playing on me. "Come on, this isn't funny!" I shouted out to the wilderness, beginning to feel queasy by the second.

Tears begin forming in my eyes as I attempt to fight them back. I step backwards slowly, backing into a large tree. One of its branches fell next to me, leaving a loud thud to startle my tears away.

I darted my head to look towards the area the tree was at, just to spot a tall unfamiliar figure a few feet away from me. My eyes widened in fear with my jaw locking up.

The stranger walked closer to me, and as its appearance began to come clear to me I noticed it had no face, unrealistic long fingers and pale as a ghost. I stepped away slowly just before the creature quickened its pace.

I gasped in terror once it started to sprint my way, sending me into shock. I ran down the path which led me to where I was, watching it slowly disappear as if it was wiped clean.

My breathing became heavy as I ran out of energy, wanting to cry at the thoughts of what could've happened to my friends. My blurry eyes catch a glimpse of a porch light to a house in the distance, relieving me just a bit.

I looked behind me as I strided over to the house, groaning at the stranger who was still chasing me. I sprinted onto the porch, knocking continuously on the door. To the sound of no answer, I give in and turn the door handle in hopes it's unlocked.

Fortunately, it was, allowing myself in before slamming the door shut behind me with a click of the lock turning. I brushed my fingers through my hair before looking outside the curtains of the window, seeing that there was no one there.

I sighed breathlessly, turning my head back around to be met with that same creature, staring right down at me.

the end.
