POV-(Y/n):
Brimstone and Hellfire. That's all I could smell as they all fell before me. The screaming, the bleeding, the shooting; none of it mattered. The only constant was bloodshed and pain on their end. I had a small moment of clarity; opening my eyes to take in the sights. The floors, walls, and ceiling were all painted a deep beautiful crimson. Sometimes with all the elegance of a brushstroke, others dappled across the canvas, many splattered all around violently. The brutality of battle never got any cleaner, but it sure as hell got easier and more pleasant.
The spilled blood, shattered bones, and torn flesh and muscle layed all around me. Like a butcher shop for the most dangerous game. Burnt metal infected my nostrils as all the armored military-grade vehicles lay in ruin around me. A veritable private military army completely destroyed. They were all so...weak. It was as if they all moved in slow-motion; their bullets, explosives, energy prototypes, and chemicals nothing more that spitballs. I spun around fully in just one circle, making sure that the only one left moving was me.
The most powerful of security measures that would have easily stopped me before; were now like a fragile fine-china shop, myself the raging bull. Blood had such an...odd taste and smell when it wasn't my own, so much so that I had trouble thinking of how to describe. So...rustic yet rich as it flowed everywhere. I got through them all so easily...is this...
Is this what Freedom feels like?
As I swiftly yet brutally guided them all to the afterlife, there was only one thing on my mind. Only one thing I wanted to see. The only reason I still had for existing. The only one that the savagery of it all hadn't fully destroyed my hopes and dreams in.
Lucy
My beloved that I promised I would see again. The pinky swear of love we made right before they tore her from my arms. I will see you again, no matter what it takes; no matter the risk. I will hold you in my arms again.
My Beautiful Lucy
I awoke, gasping for air as the smell of air conditioning and cheap airline food entered my nostrils. The fluffy clouds entered my sight through the window to the left. I sat up and stretched, bones lightly popping and relief entering my muscles. I didn't even realize I had nodded off on the flight, escaping really had tired me out. That dream...a reminder of all the destruction and devastation I left in my wake when I escaped earlier.
Beautiful
A light intercom spoke to the passengers in the plane; the pilot speaking an update.
Pilot: Now beginning landing procedures at Narita International Airport. Everybody please make sure you are seated and your seatbelts are buckled.
Looking out the window again; I watched in awe at the massive megacity below us. I...wasn't too attuned with cities but I was surprised at the sheer scale of this one. It stretched almost as far as my eyes could see and the skyscrapers looked to pierce the clouds as the other buildings were densely packed below. Bridges, roads, waterways, paths, and overpasses all interweaved around the city. It was...almost a work of art in infrastructure, how on Earth was I to find Lucy here? This country was where I sensed her the strongest but...finding her and the mysterious "D.R.I." would seemingly prove incredibly difficult in this metropolis.
The plane smoothly descended for a pleasant landing on the tarmac. I had never been on a plane before this; luckily I was able to find a private pilot that didn't discriminate much with identification policies. I just payed him with what I took from the facility offices and he was more than willing to fly me to Japan.
