How dare he call me weak!.. *Huff* I'm going to show him *huff* how strong I am!!
I ran like crazy on the treadmill that Alan installed in the garden for me to exercise in. I am quite annoyed at the way he called me weak. I could feel a burning flame inside me, desperate to prove him wrong.
*A few minutes ago*
After Alan gave me the ancient spell book, I quickly scanned through its pages and kept the book back in its stand. Alan was looking at me in confusion,
"What happened? Why did you put it back?"
"I cannot read it..."
"You cannot what?!"
"I FUCKING CANNOT READ IT ALAN!"
My words left a weird impact on him, as if he never imagined that something like this can also happen. A book meant only for me, that responded only to my touch, which is going to be another great help in my quest and I can't even read it!
"W-Why?"
I looked down, inspecting my shoes. Seconds passed by, with only the sound of the huge clock in the far end of the room, making aware of its presence. It was as if all three of us froze in air. Micah, too, was staring at me with shock and confusion evident in his features.
The silence was broken by Alan. He gripped my shoulders and shook them lightly,
"Why could you not read it?! TELL ME KIARA!!"
I flinched at his words. Gazing into his perfect blues, I saw anger in them, but the hint of confusion was something I did not miss.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, probably to cool himself down. He looked at me again and this time I could easily feel his inner turmoil.
"What happened Kiara? Tell me. "
Will he understand if I tell him? Guess I don't have another option now...
" I-I can read the book but--"
"But what Kiara? Why did you say you cannot read it then?"
"Its because I could only read the description of the spells and other small things written in the book but when I tried to read the spells, I don't know what happened to me! My mind started clouding on its own. I could not concentrate on even a single word. I tried for atleast ten times and every time I could read every single thing in the book except for the spells! I don't know what's wrong with me!" I ran a hand in my hair in confusion.
Alan got lost in deep thought. I waited for him to say something but my patience was wearing off. I felt so helpless!
"This should not happen Miss Kiara. The Ferronnière should help you read the ancient text even if its in a different language!" Micah exclaimed.
"Its helping her Micah. As she said, she could read the text but only when it comes to the spells, her mind becomes clouded. Its as if the book itself is stopping her from reading it. Why would that be?" Alan said, keeping his eyes on the spell book.
I fiddled with my fingers. I think I know the answer to Alan's question but I'm too ashamed to voice it. We don't have time and I'm making the situation at hand even more dire.
Its my powers. I'm still unable to control them and maybe thats the reason I can't read the spells.
I looked up at Alan and saw him staring deeply at me. I'm sure he heard my thoughts but his expressions gave out nothing.
"Let's go now. Kiara needs to continue her training."
With that, he walked out of the room as if we just discussed a trivial matter. I'm once again amused at this man. He is really unpredictable!
