The images and details of dozens of Top Gun graduates are stuck on the wall. The room stared them down. Picking each of them apart for their promise on this mission.
The next hours were passed by narrowing down the number of photos on that wall. Only the best pilots would be called in and then only the best of them best would actually be picked for the mission. The photos that remained were the few that were picked to be called back to the base.
Of course, the room didn't all agree but it was the closest they would get to an agreement.
One of the pilots that the room argued the most about was call sign Banshee. Knowing her recent past, some of the room worried about her loyalties. She was surprisingly skilled in the air but could she be trusted?
Another was call sign Dove. A Kazansky. That kid should be perfect in the air but his flight times weren't impressive to look at. There was no denying the skills he had though.
One more was call sign 8 Ball. He was reckless. The Top Gun classes hadn't reigned his actions in as much as they had hoped but whatever madness he attempted, luck always seemed to be in his favour.
So they ended up keeping all 3 of them in the mix. Was it a mistake? Quite possibly but they wouldn't know until later how it will turn out. The decisions had to be quick. They were running out of time.
