the rain hit the roof of our little house making a calm environment as we waiting for our mother and father to come home. "bae when are they gonna be back in hungry" i asked my older brother "i don't know rose father is out getting woods and mother is god knows where" he replied "but it's getting cold what if they don't come ho-" i was about to finish my sentence as the door flung open to show my father in the door way "papa your home!" i squealed and tan towards him "yes yes i am" he laughed "where's your mother" "i don't kno-" "the tavern" bae interrupted me "oi your not aloud to interrupt me" i put my hands on my hips "sorry miss temper" bae laughed "wait here while i get your mother then we can celebrate" he said as he left. it was my 13 birthday we were going to celebrate after father went to get fire wolf but mother said she needed to go somewhere so she did. "rose come on grab your cloak let's follow" bae said as he put his cloak on "ok" i said following after him.
once we got to the tavern i heard people laughing at papa "bae they're laughing at papa" i look up at him "don't mind them rose" he told me and he kept walking "milah come home the kids are waiting" "i'm not going anywhere with you" mother slurred her words "but it's roses birthday we promised we would do something for it-" "mate she said no" the captain told father "yeah im my own person.. coward" mama said slurring her words "i-milah please" father begged "no your a coward" i gasped lowdly "rose bae i told you to stay at home" "rose- i" "no, how could you call father a coward.. he may be a coward but your more of a coward than he will ever be, you leaving him.. leaving US thats what a coward would do" i shook my head and went to turn away and walk out "oh and i hope you enjoy our fathers left overs.. captain" i said as i walked out with everyone watching me.
when i arrived home i looked over at where my mother used to spin straw, but instead of feeling sad i felt angry.. so angry 'how could she just leave us' i thought to myself as i picked up a glass and threw it across the room and just as it fell father and bae walked through the door and i could see baes eyes were puffy and his nose was red.. 'he was crying' i thought to myself "my children im so sorry you had to see that" my father said looking down as tears welled his eyes "papa its ok we just want to know your ok" bae said to papa as i nodded my head and papa smile at us weakly "papa im going to go on a walk to clear my head" i said as i walked over to him and kissed his cheek "just be careful" i nodded my head as i walked out "best fucking birthday" i said to myself as i started to walk to the docs.
as i walked past the tavern and saw mama laughing, i just shook my head and took a short cut down a alley. I walked with my head down because one thing i knew was that if its dark and your a girl you have to keep to yourself, i fumbled with the sleeve of my dress but all of a sudden something big blocked the light at the end of the alleyway, with only a little oil lamp illuminating his face... one of hooks pirates "ello love" he said to me but i just ignored his and tried to walk past him "i said ello" he said again but pushed me on the ground "gimme any money you got, alright" he said to me leaning down "no get your own" i spat in his face "i asked nicely once love i won't do it again" he threatened "shove off" "that's it" he said as he raised his hand but as he was about to hit me someone shouted from behind me "Oi you stop" i turned around only to see none other than the captain standing behind me and the pirate walked away "need some help there love" he said as he lent me a hand but i pushed it away "i don't need your help" i said as i stood up and winced at my elbow that was now bleeding "you sure doll you look hurt" "perv" i mumbled and wiped the dirt off the dress "excuse me" he said taking a step towards and and once the dim light hit my face he realised who i was "ah i remember you" "yes yes very well" i said as i went to walk away but he grabbed my arm "what is your name" "let.go." i warned him "what will you do" he threatened me, i sighed because i wasn't bothered to deal with him anymore "Rose.. Rose gold" "how old are you" "13" i raised my eyebrow but he just grinned and walked away 'the fuck' i thought to myself as i walked out the the alleyway and stated my journey back home. I held my elbow in my hand because it started to sting more,
i couldn't stop thinking about my mother and how she was leaving with captain hook.. but mostly about how she will get to travel the world and how she will have great story's to tell... to tell other people and not her own children.
i sighed as i walked through the door to see papa making tea "hi papa" "hello rose- what happened your elbow" he asked "oh nothing i just tripped" i smiled sweetly "are you sure" he raised a eyebrow at me "yes papa" "very well... make sure to be more careful next time dear" "i will papa... where bae?" i asked him "he's just gone off to bed not to long ago" he replied siping his tea "ok" i smiled "i might head to bed aswell papa" i smiled at him as he nodded and i walked into my room.
i took my dress off and put on my nightgown, i picked up my dress and looked at the beautiful soft pink material and the delicate gold thread used to make a swirl design at the foot of the dress.. 'mother made me that dress' i sighed and placed it back in my wardrobe as i look my long blonde hair out of the plait it was in. i made my way over to my mirror my mother gave me, i looked into it and looked at my eyes... i've the same color eyes as her. bright blue, and i've the same hair my father had as a child, blonde... they always said i was a mix of them both. i laughed to myself because i am like neither of them i'm not a coward and i'm not a wench. i was getting worked up so i decided it would be better to just to go bed, so that's what i did. i jumped into my single bed and brought the covers up right to my chin because i don't like to have any limbs out where the monsters can get them. i smiled as i fell asleep.. only to dream about traveling the world.
