Part 1: Welcome to the End!

In the beggining, there was nothing. But as time would tell, something would come from this nothing. But, nothing lasts forever. Thats the case for the universe of Nyxon.. After billions of years of seemingly endless star formation, the era of the stars has ended. And with it, all light has been taken away from the universe, leaving a vast, empty void.

However, for Nyxon, this is not the case. Nyxon orbits a star who formed quite late, and so it still shines as one of the last stars in this barren universe. This brings us some problems though.. you see, ever since the end began, many worlds who once had stable civilizations across countless of star systems have fallen, forming wars of great destruction that kill billions, and cause mass extinctions of a scale never before seen. For Nyxon though, its life has long since moved underground. Massive cities all living in unison across miles of land, all inside of this scorching world. Uniquely, Nyxon's people have managed to harness an ancient force which allows them to create artificial stars to both power, and give light to the people of Nyxon. It is safe to say that this race of humans is living their best life . . . or are they?

Recently, a study made by Toma Research Labs (TRL) has discovered that the star is expanding at an exponential rate, and due to this, the star could be gone in a mere 500 years. Long time huh? well, thats simply a speck of time next to the colossal scale of the universe. Even then, the citizens have not been told about this to avoid panic, which has started to form conflicts within city borders which could lead to violent riots. To prevent this, an instalation has been made to the implants of these people to control their emotions and prevent unruly behavior.

[At a small home located near a river]
Olympia, an optimistic child, is walking beside the water, staring at the small fish that swim in it. (They are not really fish, but have evolved to look similar.) As she dozes off, she is called by her mother.

- "Olympia!"

- "Hold on, Ill be there soon!" Olympia yells back, still staring at the water.
She takes a closer look, and puts her hand in slowly.

- "Ive always enjoyed water." She thinks to herself, wishing she'd lived in the golden era of the stars, where she would be able to see the oceans, and find all kinds of creatures.

Olympia turns around, and is surprised to see her mother standing a few feet from her.

- "Olympia, come on now, the food's gonna get cold!"

- "Do i have to right now?" Olympia asks, wishing she could stay longer.

- "You'll have more time after dinner, but right now, lets go eat." Her mother responds.

Olympia sprints to the house, quickly sitting on the table. She turns on the television, where a news reporter talks about the recent riots that have been happening across the city. While she stares in awe, her mother walks in. She sighs, talking about how their city is probably one of the worst among the three megastates. However, that would change soon enough... You see, for the past few months, the power source of the cities has been sending out large bursts of energy. These bursts of energy were mostly small, but over time it has gotten much more notable. So strong that from time to time power outages occur which render nearly all technology useless. Even though it is temporary, Nyxon's scientists find it worrying.

But why? Well, the power source, known as Nyriad, has a capacity to destroy entire planets. So the threat it poses could end the people of Nyxon altogether. To prevent this, Nyriad is installed in a facility which it's sole purpose is to redirect the energy of Nyriad and distribute it across all the cities. However, this is not the main problem. As Nyriad sends out these colossal bursts of energy, the greatest nightmare of all people on Nyxon could become a reality. Nyxon is not as advanced as it used to be, and quite frankly its increase in science has stagnated ever since they went underground. But something they do know is that the universe is now dangerous, and with this danger comes the many fallen civilizations who are still alive, and are looking for resources to continue surviving.

strange whirring sounds

Deep in the void, a ship orbits a world lost to time. It's been a while since the galaxy was bright, but the story was true. One star remains.
