hyein's pov

"eeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh" hanni unnie squeals out as the five of us squeeze each others hands down as our cheer.

"and fighting!!!" we all say to hype ourselves up after we release each others hands.

"newjeans your up!!" one of the staff members told us.

we began making our way to our postitions for each of our solo performances. i was set to perform attention after minji unnie performed cookie.

y/n's pov

"Well done girls!!!" a staff member yelled to newjeans as they got off stage.

i watched as each member bowed to the staff and cheered each other on. they look exhausted. but they did great, that's for sure.

"they did awesome!!" my sister, kim subin, txt's dance instructor, turned to newjeans' performance director and dance instructor with a bright smile.

i stood awkwardly as i listened to them discuss the choreography and dance movements i honestly didn't care about too much.

my eyes were focusing on the three short dance people i was with but then ended up shifting back to the newjeans members.

"she looks like she's doing well"

i saw her. lee hyein. smiling, whilst a bit out of breath. all of her hair nicely done apart from her bangs that were slightly messed up after the intense performance. as i watched her, i noticed how her cheekbones raised as her eyes glistened under the small lights the backstage had. she looked beautiful. she looks beautiful.

her eyes held so much warmth and happiness, my heart feels warm just looking at her. "they look the same"

those eyes began looking around and soon ended up meeting with mine.

immediately, i avert my eyes elsewhere, blinking a couple times before slowly looking back at her once again.

they were still on me -- those eyes.

she smiled. gosh i could look at that smile forever.

i smiled back, partially shy.

"yeah, so they had to excecute every move at the same time for the performance to come out as great as it could be." i heard my sister say, before hearing hyein's voice which was now close to us.

"쌤(teacher)." she spoke with a smile, looking at her dance teacher before bowing towards my sister.

"oh hyein-ie! you did really well!!" the dance instructor said with sincerity.

"your facial expressions were really really good." subin unnie complimented.

"thank you so much." hyein bowed again.

my eyes were stuck on her. watching the way her hair moved, how her eyebrows raised as her eyes widened in joy.

"dummy." my sister patted my shoulder. "go on talk to your bestfriend." she said before trying to shoo me away.

i look at hyein's dance teachers for help but they responded in a nod making me walking towards hyein. we began walking around the place and eventually reached a secluded place with a vending machine, a coffee maker and a couple snacks.

"it's been a while," she muttered once it was just the two of us.

"it sure has." i responded before a wave of awkwardness took over us.

shit. its silent.

we just glanced around at different places thinking of what to say in such a situation.

"how many years has it been since we last hung out?" i come up with a question.

"the last time was probably when we were 7." she answered with a small smile.

"it's crazy isn't it." i let out an awkward chuckle. "oh, i forgot to mention how well you did at your performance today!"

"thank you. " she gigged proudly.

it then got silent. it was pretty awkward for the two of us and i wanted to hit my head against this vending machine in embarrassment.

i glanced at her, noticing how she seemed to feel awkward aswell.

"your eyes are still as pretty as ever." i looked into her eyes as i said that.

she stayed silent, obviously a little flustered, but still staring back into my eyes.

i smiled. she's so adorable.

"i missed you, y/n." hyein smiled back, not taking her eyes off me.

"i missed you too silly."
