Aidens pov:
It was late the school was closing up and students who were studying were packing up their things to leave. Rome was finishing up a final problem "And...done!" he handed me his paper I scanned the answers he wrote. "Y-y-you missed one." I circled it he cursed under his breath. "We can g-go-go over it next ti-time." he nods and stood from the chair.
I gathered up the papers and quickly stuffed them in my bag. I zipped up my bag stood up from my seat and swung my bag over my shoulders pushing in the chair. I walked past Rome who was occupied with his phone and towards the door. Before I could push the door and arm reached over me from behind and pushed the door for me I glanced up to see Rome I thanked him and took the front exit.
"You needa ride?" I looked at the time on my phone and shook my head no. My momma was already outside I wouldn't want to accept a ride from him maybe another time... He looked as if he wanted to ask me something but my phone buzzed a text from momma appeared her asking if I was coming out yet. I smiled and waved to Rome a goodbye walking out the door.
Her car was parked on the side her window rolled down. I walked up to the passenger front door and entered the car shutting the door behind me. Momma looks at me and smiled "How'd it go!" "Not so bad." I mumbled she nods and placed her car control to drive. As we drove off I heard a small shuffle in the backseats I looked back and noticed the kitty!
"I took her to the vet earlier, she's healthy for a street cat." The kitty hopped into my lap and laid purring I petted her head I enjoyed the feeling of her soft fur. "Th-tha-thank you for that momma!" I responded. She smiles and slows the car for the red light "What are you naming her?" I thought for a moment and examined the kitty. She had shiny fluffy fur and light green eyes I wanted to call her something sweet but fitted her.
"Blackberry?" Momma chocked a laugh but quickly cleared her throat. "Wa-was it ba-bad...?" She took a turn and shook her head "Its an adorable name honeybun!" I smiled it really was. Mommas phone suddenly rung she pressed her earpiece accepting the call. I looked out the window and watched the passing trees go by as we approached our street the sun was setting and minimal post lights were turned on.
"Okay, you're welcome." Momma ended the call and sighed. She turned up to our driveway and shut off the car engine. "I picked up a double shift tonight..." I turned to her and nod "I wish I could stay with you honey." I understandably shook my head "Ill b-b-be be okay!" She whispers an 'okay' and opens her door I open mine and scooped up blackberry in my arms shutting the car door. Momma held the front door for me and closed it behind me once I entered.
The hallway clock read 7:15 pm it was nearly time for me to go to bed. The dinner table was set up momma had dinner already prepared for the evening two plates were placed but she wasn't around. I suppose she had to go and prepare herself for the night I placed blackberry down and walked to the dining table.
