Chapter 1

Zurich -Switzerland -

"The natural disasters that started a few days back was the headline of newspapers and news channels, because nobody saw something like it before, but those calamities and their terror did not cause much casualties compared to ones that happened before causing more damage within small range; thanks to the new techniques human developed they were able to reduce the amount of casualties and that was the best news these days; earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, volcanoes all happened at the same time and fortunately they struck places with less population; the day they ended, a strong earthquake hit Egypt in Giza resulting damage to the eastern base of the great pyramid "Khufu"; the earthquake was so violent that it cracked the ground under the eastern base demolishing part of it; no one was expecting an earthquake to hit that location considering that geologists did not deal with such strong shock waves in that place before, but what astonished them the most is "how something so ancient and massive could be damaged that way?", but after the earthquake quieted and scientists measured the amount of damage, they stated that it was not as bad as they predicted and just a small part collapsed, therefore the renovation will begin at once and it will take a week at most.

The recent natural disasters was not of great danger though the range was big, perhaps this is just the beginning of something bigger that is coming."

When the news lady finished, Jollan looked at his wife Diana and said while turning the television off:

"What do you think of that is happening in the world?"

Diana was arranging the room when he asked her.

" The natural disasters?" she replied, "it is not new, but when the media wants to make something popular you hear everybody talking about it and vice versa, lately I don't believe in this nonsense that goes on in television."

Jollan was looking at his wife concentrating on her words, when she finished, he told her while dressing to leave:

"Yes, you are totally right, but what is the point of making a big deal of something like that, what is the benefit?"

"You can't know, cause if you were, they wouldn't have fooled millions of people by the same trick and every time they think that the simple and normal information provided by the media can't contain dangerous ideas that invades their brains without them knowing it; therefore every time I see a news that made a big fuss in the media I know that there is something behind it, like what happened with the natural disasters.

What she said was not strange for him because he was used to her analysis and view angle.

When he finished dressing, Jollan looked at his watch noticing that it was time to go to the university, he went to his son's room who was twelve years of age, and they talked a little then to his daughter's to say goodbye as usual, after that a quick turn about the office to pick up the suitcase that contains lectures of the day.

He was a professor at Zurich's university, Jollan's specialty in ancient languages allowed him to translate many elder scrolls written in hieroglyphic belonging to the times of Amenhotep the second, in addition that he translated from several ancient languages, he was into old civilizations like the Egyptian and Sumerian and so on... increasing his passion to learn their languages until he became a specialist professor in that field and his lectures are all around the world.

He arrived to the university and went directly to his office to finish signing some papers needed for a trip to japan concerning a lecture about "the evolution of kanji from the old to the new" that will take place after three days; when done he handed them to his secretary ordering her to be delivered to the director of foreign affairs whom will send them to japan, afterwards he went outside to the Amphitheatre when his lectures took place. He entered and it was a big room with staircases almost filled by students due to other ones who did not study with him but joined to enjoy the lecture because he was so good, though he was teaching ancient languages. Students were so excited to hear about old civilizations and their evolution, their life details. With his fluent and astonishing way, he makes them waiting for his next session.
