Mr. Perfect & Ms. Imperfect

Chapter 2

Finally, it was lunch time! Jaehyun was waiting for me outside the classroom and greeted me with a smile. Damn it, he's so pretty!

"Hey, ready to eat lunch?" he asked.

"Yes, I'm just going to leave my stuff in my locker!" I answered.

"I'll come with you."

We went to the lockers, and I left my books and computer in the locker.

"Have you decided what to eat, yet?" Jaehyun asked me.

"Ah... I've no idea. I was craving jajangmyeon but I also wanted eomuk..."

"I'll buy you both, how about that?"

"You really don't have to pay for me!"

He smiled and placed his hands on my shoulders.

"If I didn't want to pay, I wouldn't tell you I'll pay. Let me pay this time." 

We walked down to the cafeteria, and it was full of students. The lunch here is delicious. The cooks are always so nice, and they always make sure you eat well. The cue was really big, and we went to wait.

Finally, it was our turn! I was so starving that I could eat a whole buffet.

"Wow, the class president of class B12 got a girlfriend?" the cook jokingly asked.

Jaehyun just shaked his head and said:

"A cup of tteokbokki, two eomuks, one cup of jajangmyeon and two hotteoks, thanks."

"That'll be 8700₩."

Jaehyun paid and took the tray of food.

"Let's eat outside. There aren't any available seats here."

We went outside to the school park and seated us at a bench. We both just started eating without saying a word. God, this was so awkward! Finally, Jaehyun cleared his voice and asked:

"Are you enjoying the food?"

I just nodded and Jaehyun continued:

"How about you pay for dessert after this?"

I almost choked on my jajangmyeon but I just nodded and said:

"Haha, sure! Have you got a sweet tooth?"

This time, it was Jaehyun's turn to nod. 

"I know a convenience store close to our school, there's also a café. I was craving jjinpang or maybe bungeoppang. What do you like?"

"I like all desserts. I always buy a dessert after school, mostly corn dogs or egg bread-"

Before I could continue, Jaehyun exclaimed:

"I love egg bread! Also, what do you like to have with your corn dogs?"

"Ketchup!"

"I also like mine with ketchup, I guess have some things in common, Miyoung."

The last sentence that left his mouth was the sentence that made my heart skip a beat. How come even the simplest words that leave his mouth can make my heart flutter?

"Haha... I guess..." I was trying to find something to talk about, so I just asked:

"Do you like beef?"

"Oh... I'm a vegetarian..."

Aish, that was the worst question to ask! How come I didn't think of that? I hurried up to say:

"Oh... well, vegetarians are very uncommon in South Korea, so I thought that you liked beef! Hehe..."

Jaehyun just smirked and said:

"I do like braised tofu, though. You don't seem like a tofu lover, in my opinion."

"Are you kidding? I love tofu!" I exclaimed.

Jaehyun looked like he was thinking about something, I wonder what he was thinking. He looks so handsome even when he's thinking. Finally, he spoke:

"Let's go out to eat tofu this weekend. I know a place that sells delicious tofu. What do you think about that?"

Eating tofu with Jaehyun? That'd be awesome, and he paid for the school lunch today...

"Of course. But I'll pay. It's your favourite food, after all!"

"Sure. I'll look forward to hanging out with you in the weekend."  

After approximately 25 minutes, we had finished eating.

"Did you eat well?" I asked Jaehyun.

"It's impossible not to, when the school chefs are awesome at cooking. How about you? Do you think you can eat dessert?"

"There's always room in my stomach for dessert!"

Jaehyun let out a small laugh, his laugh is so attractive and even just a small laugh of his makes me happy.  

We went to the convenience store close to the school. It wasn't packed today, since most students were studying for the upcoming exams. I don't have the energy to study for exams, my mom is always nagging about my grades, but I just want to eat and sleep... Ugh...!

"So... what do you want?" I asked Jaehyun.

"Let's get jjinpang and egg bread."

"What about corn dogs?"

Jaehyun nodded.

"With ketchup."

I paid for our dessert, and we left the convenience store. Right, after that it started raining!

"Oh no! How are we going to get back to school without getting soaked?" I looked at Jaehyun.

"Wait here, I'll be back." Jaehyun went into the convenience store again. What was he going to do there?

After 5 minutes, Jaehyun came out with an umbrella! Woah... this is just like those romantic Korean dramas!

"Let's go, then." he said.

Oh my god... this was the closest I've ever been to Jaehyun. Thank you, universe, for inventing umbrellas!

I was so close to Jaehyun that he could probably hear my heart bumping.  

When we arrived at the school, everyone's heads turned, and I saw the shocked faces of the students.

"The rumours are true! Jaehyun has a girlfriend!"

"He has never been that close to a girl before!"

"Isn't that Miyoung?"

"He's even holding the umbrella, what a romance!"

"When did this happen?"

Aish, people always misunderstand things! Do they really think a girl like me is going out with a guy like Jaehyun? Everyone was still looking at us, the popular girl, Heejin, was looking at me with a face that expressed disgust and jealousy. I just looked down; I wasn't used to the attention.

Jaehyun seemed careless, of course he was used to the attention. He was a handsome guy that had straight A's and this was the 2nd year he had been elected to the class president. He wasn't just popular among the girls, but the boys too!

As much as I wanted it to be real, I don't think we'd ever be in a relationship.
