(Carmina’s view)

“Margaret! Margaret, wait!” Carmina called out. She could hear Margaret laughing and that made her even angrier.

She started running towards her and then grabbed her on both shoulders which stopped both of them on their heels.

“Seriously, Margaret, a date?” Carmina asked her.

“It was kind of Damien’s idea. He wanted the party to be unique for Anne,” she replied, giggling.

“So he agreed to help us?” Carmina asked getting happy at the thought of it.

“Yeah. When I asked, he said to me, ‘a friend of yours is a friend of mine’ and then he called me drama queen cos’ I pretended to cry,” Margaret exclaimed.

“Well, it’s true. You are a drama queen,” she admitted.

“Me? A drama queen? Puurlease,” Margaret answered back, shaking her head.

“Hey guys. What you talking about?” Anne asked from behind them.

They both looked at her and said nothing in unison.

“Erm, okkayy,” she answered back, looking at them as if they were freaks. “So, should we go to my house?”

“Yep,” Carmina replied. She was really tired after a long day of torture from Anne and Margaret and then laughing so much because of Damien.

They turned around and started walking, and five minutes later, they were outside the school building. Anne’s house was a ten minute walk from school and they decided that they were going to eat at the subway that was next to her house.

“So, Carmina. By any chance, was lover boy in your English class?” Anne asked, in a teasing way.

Carmina gave her a glare and then shook her head before she even realised it. A hint of disappointment flooded through her just like before when she saw that he wasn’t in her lesson. But at least he was in two of her lessons that day.

“Aww, its ok Carmina. He’s in your art at least,” Anne said, sympathisingly.

“Exactly why do you think I’ll be upset cos’ he’s not in my lesson?” she asked.

“Carmina, me and Margaret are your best friends. We know you better than you know yourself,” Anne answered back.

They walked into the subway and sat down at an empty table.

“Look guys, I don’t have a crush on the new guy. Where did you even get that from?” Carmina asked her friends.

Margaret took a deep breath and said quietly, “I’ve never seen you look at a guy like the way you looked at Damien since two years.”

Almost at once, Carmina could feel the pain she felt when she was heartbroken after she broke up with the guy she thought was her soul mate, Matthew.

Anne noticed the look on her face and decided to change the subject. She called one of the waiters over and one by one, they ordered their food. They waited for the waiter to come with their orders and didn’t say a word until they were out of the shop.

“So, I bought the movie ‘the hunger games’. Do you guys wanna watch it?” Anne asked them.

“Oh yeah, apparently that was really good. But people are saying that the book is better,” Margaret told them.

She and Anne then started a conversation about movies they wanted to watch but Carmina took no notice and dozed out of the world. All she wanted right now was to hear Damien’s soothing voice again. It calmed her they way a lullaby calmed a baby to sleep.

In a way, she was glad that Damien was going to help out with the party as it meant spending more time with him. And the date.

‘I hope Damien asks me’ she thought.

It felt weird to her to have a crush on a guy like that. She couldn’t stop thinking about him. Whenever she was around him, she could feel a connection that was literally a visible vibration that only she could see.

But she couldn’t do anything about it. Right now, she had to be patient and wait for him to come to her. Just wait and hope.

Once the arrived at Anne’s house, they walked in and took their shoes off and went to the living room where Anne’s parents were.

“Hello, Margaret. Carmina. Anne didn’t tell me you were coming. Dinners almost ready,” Anne’s mum, Martha Lewis, asked.

“Oh it’s okay, we bought some food to eat, but I appreciate it. Thank you,” Carmina answered back, smiling. Martha was like her second mum since she always came to Anne’s house after school and sometimes on weekends.

“Let’s go to my room,” Anne requested. “Mom, we’re going to watch a movie so can you tell Jordan and his friends to not bother us?”

Jordan was Anne’s older brother, about eighteen, and in every conversation those two siblings had, they ended up having an aggressive food fight, including plates and sometimes spoons.

They went upstairs and the second door on the right was Anne’s bedroom. Margaret walked in first, then Anne, followed by Carmina.

Inside, to the right there was a small desk with a laptop on it and next to that, there was a baby pink mini fridge which had all kinds of different treats. There was a door to a bathroom and another door on its right to the walk-in closet. To the left there was her king-sized bed with different shapes and sizes of pillows all in Annes’ favourite colour, baby blue; although, some were dark blue. The flat screen TV was on the wall, which were all light purple.

Margaret walked over to a beanbag and sat down, waiting for Anne to put the movie on whilst Carmina walked over to the bed and sat down lazily. Anne put the movie on and sat down next to Carmina. They all started eating their food which was still warm.

That day, Carmina didn’t eat anything since she was too busy thinking of Damien during lunch and she skipped breakfast. So, she had gobbled up her food before they even ate a quarter of theirs.

“There are some drinks in the fridge if you want some,” Anne told Carmina. She got up and went over to the fridge getting three cans of Dr Pepper and then sat down again. They grabbed the cans at once and Carmina took a huge gulp from hers.

“This movie is really good,” Margaret mentioned to them. Ten minutes later, Carmina was found asleep with her head on Annes’ lap. Some film that was.

Anne noticed that Carmina was smiling.

“I bet she’s dreaming about Damien,” she whispered to Margaret, grinning widely. And she was right. That was the first night she had a good sleep in ages.

Now that Damien had come into her life, she felt like she was living the dream. And that’s exactly what she was doing now that he was there.
