*Feline*

"You look so pretty.", Kevin smiled as he entered the room.

I couldn't help but feel my cheeks immediately turn red. I felt really beautiful in this dress. Maybe for the first time in my life I had nothing, but really nothing to not like about my appearance. This wedding dress was my absolute dream. No one could take that away from me anymore.

"Kevin, Feline, you...", Jan, Kevin's dad, followed him and stopped in the doorway "My little girl.", he said touched and was with me in a few steps. He pressed a warm kiss to my forehead.

He wasn't my dad, but sometimes it felt more like dad with him than with my real dad.

He had always been there. Really always. And it had been important to me not only that Kevin walked me down the aisle on this special day, but also that his dad was there. They were my family. Of course I wanted them around when I got married.

Kevin smiled "What did you want, Dad?"

"Oh yeah. You guys should hurry. Everyone is already waiting.", he smiled at me again, then nodded to Kevin and left us alone.

My best friend took my hand in his and squeezed it tightly "I'm so proud of you." he whispered and pulled me to him "I have something for you before we go out." he pulled a small pouch out of his pocket and shook out a thin gold bracelet "It's a lucky mandala." he showed me the pendant "Here's to everything going perfectly for you starting today." he said, I could see tears glistening in his eyes.

"Stop it! I'm about to cry too.", I gulped and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Okay. One more thing. Laura picked out the bracelet because it's, and now I'm quoting my daughter, "as beautiful as Aunt Feli.""

"Asshole.", I hissed, swallowing down the tears.

"Yeah.", he also had to swallow to keep from crying.

It was just like his wedding all over again. I had been his maid of honor and we had spent the last moment before the ceremony standing in a small room, drinking a shot and fighting the tears.

"Come give me your arm, we need to have another shot before we go out," he said, taking my hand and twisting it so he could put the bracelet on me.

"You brought booze?"

"Sure.", he laughed, fastening the bracelet with trembling fingers and then taking the flask out of his suit jacket inside pocket.

"You're the best," I smirked.

Kevin and I had been best friends ever since I could remember. My parents had moved to Denmark back then, shortly after I was born, and we had lived in the house next to the Magnussens'. Kevin and I were only two years apart and had probably started playing together at some point. I could no longer remember it. Only that I always found it infinitely cool in school that someone who was two grades above me looked out for me. We had always been inseparable until my parents had moved back to Germany and taken me with them, of course, I had only been 14 at the time. But the friendship had never been lost.

Kevin had then gone into Formula 3 at some point and I had traveled to his races as often as I could. I had graduated from school at 18 and started studying. From then on I had been a little freer and had been very lucky that Jan had taken me to many of his son's races. I had also been to a few Formula 1 races, but didn't really like the media hype there and had always preferred to stay away from the pit lane when I saw Kevin's race. There were definitely too many cameras for me.

I had still seen Kevin regularly. He was the one in my life on whom I had always firmly relied.

Then, when he had met Louise, I had gotten a little scared. I would have understood if she had not liked me. That's how it usually was when men had a girl best friend. But luckily Louise and I got along right away. Kevin occasionally accused me of liking his wife better than him.
