A returning memory

I was an orphan with no knowledge of my family or past lineage.

I know my features were different than most koreans tho, for that I was bullied, especially since I didn't know where I came from.

This particular day at the park, which I was taken to by my foster parents, the bullying was especially bad.

My parents were talking to others and I was left alone in the sandbox. I was only 5, but by then I already knew there was something wrong with me. And the other kids made sure I knew it too.

I was making a little house while singing a song my foster mother taught me. It was sunny so I took off my sweater and tossed it to the side carelessly.

I was enjoying myself, but it didn't last long as 4 other children came up to me. I didn't hear them, but they made sure their presence was noticed by kicking sand in my face. I spat trying to get rid of the sand in my mouth and rubbing my eyes.

I don't exactly remember what they told me or taunted me about since it was so long ago, but I do remember one thing.

A boy coming to my rescue. He wasn't very tall and honestly a little scrawny, but I could tell he was older than us all.

I don't remeber the actions he took to get rid of the other kids, but I remember the kidness in his voice as he took me to my foster mom.

BEEP BEEP BEEP SLAM

Another day.. I though wearily as I got up. I worked at a gas station, I couldn't afford university or college since I became old enough to not be in the system and no family was willing to adopt me.

The speakers played Kpop all day everyday, it was ok, but hearing it all the time really annoyed me.

I zone out as I think of other part time jobs I can take to pay rent, when I hear someone raising their voice at me.

"HELLO??" an old lady yells at me over the counter

"Oh, I'm so sorry ma'am, let me get those for you," I say hastily charging her for her things.

"I was calling you for almost an hour! The service is horrible here, I wont be coming here ever again!" Her voice continued to rise

"I apologize for not paying attention," I said ringing her up on her last thing, "1,855 yen"

She scoffed as she handed me the money, "This generation will fail us all."

"Have a great day and I'm sorry for the delay," I bowed with a sigh of relief when she left the store

"You handled that great"

I turn to meet the eyes of a tall guy, 6ft I think, his eyes are a beautiful shape.

I laughed a little, "Thank you, sorry for holding up the line"

"It's fine," He said in return

I finished ringing him up but when I looked at him he was staring at me like he was trying to find something on my face

"Hey are you alright?" I asked a little concerned because he wasn't blinking

"I- uh, yeah I'm fine.. but um, have I met you before?" he asked

"I'm not sure, but 1,500 yen please"

"Oh, yes here, thank you" He said awkwardly

"You're welcome, have a great day and come again," I waved smiling

He waved back and left

That was so weird, I thought wiping the desk
