Besides the fact that all my summer plans were ruined, I decided instead of going back to bed, I would go downstairs and make breakfast. My mom came downstairs in a rush to get out the door, " Mom, why are you rushing, you have like an hour. Sit down and enjoy breakfast." My mom boomed, "I'm late! I have an interview for a job upgrade and I'm LATE!" Gosh she must have not gotten much sleep. Well, there's a waste of bacon and eggs!

I went back upstairs into my room and gathered up clothes to wear for the day. I looked at the clock and it read 9:12 A.M. Dad said the neighbors were leaving around 6:00 tomorrow morning. I thought I better stop by for a while. I got in the shower and made sure it was cold. Whenever I'm nervous I want to be cold.

I dried my hair and pulled on my clothes. I went downstairs and nobody was home, just me and the bacon. I took one more peace of bacon and headed out the door. Today was so hot, i could already feel the sweat coming in. I walked down the gravel road, fallen leaves crunching underneath my shoes. The wind blew and it sent shivers down my spine. I walked through the gate and onto my neighbors creaky steps. A sign above their door read 'Mullvaney' that was their last name. It made them seem so typical, not scary or creepy like most people thought, but just normal. I knocked on the wooden door of their ginormous house. Mr. Mullvaney answered the door. "Hey Maya, How are you?" He asked politely. "I'm doing fine." I answered nervously. " we are so happy that you could watch dear old Cara for us! She hates vacation." How could a child hate vacation? "Mr. Mullvaney, I was just wondering can I go meet Cara?" The words slipped out of my mouth so quickly, I didn't even have time to filter them through my brain! "Sure you can! Right this way!" He lead me up his stairs and into Caras hallway. There was only one door. The one right at the end.. Caras room. Rust outlined the pale white door. "Caras a little sick right now so I apologize." Mr. Mullvaney grabbed the door handle and the door opened.
