I wasn't a bad kid. I didn't stand out. They only thing that helps people recognize me is my twin Mooi (moo-ie). Mooi had wavy light brown hair down to her shoulders, eyes as green as grass. She was wearing her sneakers that day, thankfully, and she could barely touch our low ceiling. She always wanted to be the first for everything. She and I had to go by foot to get to our yucky old school. Which was only about three houses away. Where we met up with my friend Dylan and Mooi's friend Cassandra. Who were neighbors and lived four houses in the other direction. We all hung out together and never had any issues with each other.
The clouds whipped everything they had at us. The weather wasn't showing any weakness or mercy. The long driveway, that seemed to grow during bad weather, in front of our school had not filled with busses yet. That meant we were early and had time to dry off. It was often raining where we lived near the Great Lake of Michigan or GLOM as we called it. Dylan shoved his dark bangs, that were darker than ever thanks to the rain, out of his eyes and ran faster than he did at his track meets.
"If you ran like that at our meets we might win something. Have you been holding out on us?" I shouted, as the rain grew heavier. He always tried and succeed at beating us to the gym entrance where we entered for school in the morning. When I came in second with a close third from Cassandra. Of course Mooi would have beat her and I if she hadn't had on her heals. Cassandra smacked me with her golden long hair that made it to her chest when we mad it to cover. Mooi came in dried her hair gave it off to Cassandra who passed it to Matt.
"Ladies first," I couldn't help my self but to nudge Matt. He nudged me back, with the same effort, but almost knocked me over. Matt was not to be messed with. That's why I was glad to be his friend. "Watch it or I'll just have to get Mrs.minx. You know what she does to bullies. She makes them her slaves, never to be seen again. Or she just eats their soul and makes them part of her," I ruefully teased. Mrs.Minx is the devil of devils. But she claims to want us all to be as safe as possible.
"I think it's the second one," Mooi continued for me. "I have heard people scream so loud even Texas could hear them cry!"
"That's how we know your twins. You guys actually get along. Any other siblings are constantly battling it out. I mean you dudes-" Matt's fast pace ramble got cut of by Mooi and I.
"Mooi is not a dude." We simultaneously reminded him. Mooi continued "I am a self dependent woman."
I joked on "Who is always helped by her genius twin brother, that's me for all of you who don't know," She and I were in every class together and in most of them with in just a seat of each other. I saw her face turn red and give me a quick, threatening leer as the bell rang. The gym doors to the school just opened and busses were let in through the side door. "Saved by the bell." I cheered.
