She lifted her head to stare at her reflection after splashing water on her face to remove the soap suds. Happy with the result, she takes a good look and admires the features that she once hated.
She looked happy.
Satisfied.
Yet I'm tired.
Of what?
I'm tired of this void that grows within me.
I'm tired of this loneliness that strongly grips my entire being and refuses to let go.
I'm tired of always...searching...yearning for something...or...for someone?
With every thought, she gripped the edges of the wash basin harder.
I'm tired of trying to remember...
The loud banging on the door shook her out from her stupor. "Baji! Everyone's waiting for you!!! We are all hungry!!!!"
The voice like a rope, pulled her out from the quagmire of her thoughts. Hurrying, she takes the towel hung on a hook and walks out while wiping her face gently. But she stops.
But most of all..
And looks at her reflection again, with a steely look in her eyes.
I'm tired of pretending it never existed.
The memories kept haunting her, refusing to let go. The pain, the betrayal, and another indescribable feeling.
It all felt too real.
She couldn't keep ignoring it, pushing it to the back of her mind.
The mirror was a constant reminder of what she had lost, what had been taken from her. It was time to confront the past, to face the truth and find the strength to move forward. With determination in her heart, she walked out of the bathroom, ready to confront her demons.
