Shouta has never been much of a morning person. He wanted to stay in bed all day cuddled up with his cats, Sushi and Scruffy, and his husband, Hizashi Yamada. Sleeping in late in the warmth of the covers was a daily argument between Shouta and Hizashi.
"No! I don't want to get up... the kids can teach themselves." Shouta would always say. Hizashi always gave him a smug look in return before carrying him out of bed. He always made Shouta a warm cup of coffee with vanilla creamer and 2 teaspoons of sugar. He would use a thicker type of creamer on top to make a heart design for him. Afterward, it was 6 hours of teaching and 5 hours of patrol for Shouta while Hizashi had 6 hours of teaching and then 3 hours of his radio show on Wednesdays and Fridays. They would come home and make a dinner they both like after a bit of arguing about which food was the best. After dinner, they snuggled in bed and fell asleep.
After time, their regular schedule morphed to include two kids in the mix. Eri and Hitoshi. Shouta also became more reckless in his hero work. He would often come home around 3 or 4 AM injured, usually with bruising and a few cuts. There had been a few times when he had come home with more serious injuries, like bullet wounds and stab wounds. Hizashi would always help him clean up, while Hitoshi kept Eri occupied in her room.
Shouta really missed that routine. They all did.
About a month ago, Shouta never came home. A week later, Hizashi went missing after his radio show, leaving Hitoshi alone to pay the bills and take care of Eri. The school the couple worked at called in substitutes for the first few weeks, but after the police proclaimed Shouta as MIA, his students had been given a new full-time teacher.
They stopped looking for him after a month. They are giving Hizashi one more week to be found. But will they find him? How much longer can Hitoshi and Eri be on their own?
