Adeline resisted the urge to swerve her car off the bridge. She was getting quite sick of all these job interviews leading nowhere. Before she could fling herself into the river, her phone rang. Connecting it to her car, she answered.

"What is it?"

"Wow. Hello, to you, too, Addie. I wanted to ask about the interview."

"There aren't any openings for Archaeologists anywhere in this damn country and I don't have any other talents. You spend all that money on the degrees and all you get out of it is a shitty apartment in Massachusetts and a Starbucks apron."

"So I take it it went poorly."

"Lowery, you are walking on thin ice. I appreciate the call, but I'm not in the mood." She removed her hand from the wheel to hang up.

"Wait! I know you love Massachusettts—" She cut him off with a scoff. "But I could try and get you a job here?"

"You'd actually do that?" Adeline had to refocus on the road, her brother's words having distracted her. "A real salary job, in Costa Rica, working with dinosaurs?"

"Well, I don't know if you'd work directly with them, I don't have much influence so you may end up as custodial or something..."

"If you talk to them, I'll send in my application now. Like, literally now."

"Distracted driving is the cause of many deaths in your country."

"Shut up, it's your country, too. I'll call you later?"

"Bye, Addie."

Her older brother hung up before she did. Working at Jurassic World. It was a miracle that even Lowery had gotten the job, but his passion for the first park was apparently shared by Simon Masrani. As much as she would never admit it, her brother was one of the smartest people she knew, so she wasn't actually all that surprised.

But if all it took was a related degree and a love for dinosaurs, Adeline basically already had the job. Plus, she was a nepotism baby, of sorts. A nepotism sister.

Sure enough, by the time she returned home Lowery had already texted her that she was good to send in her application. She slaved over it, trying to get every detail perfect. She submitted it by email with shaking hands. This was more important than any museum or field job she'd applied for in the last year since graduating. She was that 9% of unemployed students 6 months after graduating.

Not a day later, she got a call. She was getting ready for her afternoon Starbucks shift when the phone rang. She reached for it, pressing the green button. "Adeline Cruthers, good afternoon."

"Miss Cruthers, it's Simon Masrani. Do you have time to speak with me about your application?"

In truth, no. Her shift started in fifteen minutes and she was already running late. "Absolutely."

"Wonderful! I'm sure your brother has filled you in on many of the aspects of working here at Jurassic World. What type of position are you interested in here?"

"Physical work, preferably. Field work, training, the like." She bit her lip, waiting for a response. She heard the faint clicking of a computer mouse on the other end of the line.

"We have an opening in our herbivore department. Are you interested in overseeing that whole portion of the park?"

Lowery had told her she would probably be custodial and here the CEO was, offering her a manager position. "I am quite interested, sir."

"Fantastic, when can you start?"

"When do you want me to?"

"I like the sound of that. I'll send you an email with your plane tickets and more information right now, start packing!"
