Selkidomus

A regular work day for the head of the emperors coven, Eda was trying to finish paper work for the coven, just one of the duties of head of a coven. Eda hated this part of her job the most. But this is just a small price to pay to be with her sister and friends.  Paper after paper. Signage after signage.  She doesn't know how much time has passed and didn't want to see how many more papers she would have to sign incase it was more than she thought.  Then she beard her door opening and out of instinct. She threw a knife she had laying around at the door. Still completely focused. She only lost concentration when she hears a familiar scream.  Eda turns her head to see her best friend on the floor painting and the knife she threw stuck to the wall. "Oh shit! I'm sorry rainestorm" she said helping up the panicked bard. "Eda! Why did you throw a knife at me!?"    "I didn't know it was you" eda says in a nervous chuckle.   "Why did you throw a knife at the door anyway? That could have been lilith!" Eda helped Raine get up and took the knife out the wall. "Nah, it it was lily I would have heard her bump into the wall, she's always got a book in her face" eda joked. But it was true if lilith was working she was reading. "But , what are you doing here? Not that I'm not happy to see you, I love yo- hanging out with you.." Eda shuddered out, then covering her mouth. Causing both adults to blush. "W-well, I came to get you, it's our lunch break" since they were coven heads, and lilith is the role right under a coven head. They only got an hour break for lunch.  "Oh shit.. Is it?! I've been pushing papers for the last 30 minutes" both Raine and eda shared a laugh and they head off, hand in hand, but of course not noticing.  When lilith and Darius sat them walking over they called out. "Edalyn! Raine! Over here!"  Lilith called out.   They walked over and met their friends. "Sorry for the wait, I had a lot of paper work to do" eda told them "we sent Raine over after 5 minutes it's all good, although if you guys wanted to be alone we would have gone on" Darius said in a smug voice.  "What are you talking about?" Raine asked, giving Darius a skeptical look. Darius gestured at them holding hands and only then did we notice, quickly moving their hands away from each other both turning red. "Oh come on, let's just go" lilith said starting to walk off, to which the other three followed. They enjoyed this time they had together during the day, they considered it luck that they could work together, alone they were all very capable witches with amazing talent, but together they were unstoppable, literally. Even belos noticed this, so when he had important things to be retrieved or things that need to be done. He always asked at least 2 people within the 4. And if it was really important he would send all 4.  During their much breaks it would be just like they were back in school. Cracking jokes, laughing together. Lilith and Darius teasing eda and raine about their feelings for each other.   But the person who loved this time they had most was eda. After they finished their lunch break right before the 4 adults went separate ways kikimora came up to them. "The emperor has requested to see edalyn and Raine" eda and Raine exchanged looks then nodded. "See you later lily" eda said leaving with Raine. They entered the throne room. And bowed (showing respect). "Ah, edalyn, raine. Thank you for coming" although it's not like they had a choice.  "Im sending you two on a mission, I need selkidomus scales, so if you two would slay one and bring me the scales I'd be thankful" he said in a calm tone. "Yes emperor belos" they said in sync. And went on their way.  After exiting the castle Raine noticed eda was upset. "Calamity, what's wrong?"    "Nothing, I'm all good, don't worry rainestorm" eda replied.  "You sure? You can tell me anything" Raine said in a soft comforting tone. "It's all good, I'm alright" she reassured. They started heading for the. Boiling sea where the selkidomus lived. They stopped at a mountain right above the sea, and saw the selkidomus. But Raine could still see eda was upset. "Calamity, you know I can tell when your upset" eda chuckled, knowing it was true.  "It's just.. The selkidomus is a peaceful creature... What were doing is wrong.."  Eda loved all things wild, nature included. And things she had to do for the coven seemed wrong.. In some way she knew she wasn't meant for a coven life. "I know, I'm not sure why he needs selkidomus scales, but I don't want you getting in trouble"  they were right, if they refused to complete a mission, they both could get in serious trouble.  "You just hold it down, I'll.. You know" Raine Eympysized.  "Yeah, okay" eda said, they casted flate circle to float over the boiling sea, they found the selkidomus swimming along and eda casted a spell to hold it down. Raine summoned their violin, about to take it out in one slash, but the selkidomus started splashing around, sending eda flying. Luckily she was able to cast a second flate circle to catch her self. "Eda!!!?" Raine called out hoping to see any signal that she okay. "I'm okay!! Just watch out!" She yelled out to them. The selkidomus broke free and started attacking. Raine started playing spells to attack while eda threw a few fire balls at it. They fought hard until it collapsed.  Eda floated above it in pity. When Raine came up next to her. "Why don't I do the rest and il meet you over there?" Raine said in a  soft voice. Eda smiled and waited over at the mountain looking out in the woods spacing out. Raine did eventually come back with a bag full of the scales. They saw she was upset and distracted. So they did what they knew would cheer her up. Raine took hold of her legs and waist and picked her up. (Bridal style) "w-woah! hey!" Eda almost yelled. And couldn't help but laugh
"Rainee! Come on were not kids anymore, you can keep doing this!" She said between laughs. "Pretty sure I can, and I absolutely will"  Raine let go of the bottom of her legs holding her up, with edas arms resting on raines shoulder. And started spinning her round, the area around them filled with edas playful screams and both their laughter. "Rainee! Put me down!" She said laughing. Raine stopped spinning her around and was just holding her up. "Come on! Promise your okay" Raine said in a playful voice. "Okay, okay! I'm okay, I promise"  eda replied.  "Promiseee?" Raine asked again. "Yes! Now put me downn!" Raine did as she asked holding her hand. "Now let's head back, we shouldn't be out to late" they started heading back to the castle the bag of scales floating behind them due to raines magic.   And on the way back they stopped to get something to eat since it was getting late.  They delivered to scales straight to belos. And went to their seperate rooms. Raine and Darius had rooms right across the ball from each other. "Songbird" Darius said greeting them. "Oh, hey Darius"   "how was your little date?" Darius asked with a smirk. "I-it wasn't a date! It was a mission!"  Although Darius could tell they wished it was a date. "Right, whatever, so are you actually going to tell her how you feel, or are you going to rot in the friend zone"  Darius asked causing Raine to turn red. "Um.. Well..  I actually.. Kind of.." Darius tries to price together what Raine is trying to say. "Did you already do it!?" Some how raines face got brighter. "N-no! I just ment I'm.. Planning on telling her.. Soon"   "well good for you, it's been long enough" Raine smiled thinking about asking eda such things. "I.. Just need to find the right time.. And place"   "well you know her best, just show her something she would like and just ask"  "you make it sound easy" Raine said in a low tone. "Just get some rest Raine, and besides I'm positive she'll accept" they both went to bed.    Raine thought about what Darius said to them.  What could they do, what could they say. Guess you'll have to find out later.
