GRACE

I watched as Stephon break out into a run into the forest and disappearing in the darkness. My heart broke. Why wouldn't he talk to me? I couldn't understand anything.

What the hell is going on right now?

A few days ago, was great, now.... He's suddenly change.

Pushing for answers might only escalate whatever he is dealing with. He wouldn't react like this, unless something must have happened to upset him. I sat on the bed waiting for him to return, some hours passed, and my eyes began to get droopy. I decided sleep would be best, so I went to bed, I would see him in the morning.

What was going on in his mind, I didn't know. But the best bet would be to tread my waters carefully when searching for clues. I want to help him, I really do. That is what we do if we love someone, right.

Oh my gosh... I, I, I love him.

I felt heat rise in my cheeks as I spoke the truthful words, I'm in love with him. I couldn't deny the fact as I brought it to light.

I awoke to the smell of barbeque chicken and many voices coming from inside the house. Laughter and a few playful bickering. I made my way downstairs to the kitchen to see it's full of people.

Ok... Where the hell did all these people come from?

Despite the shock look on my face, they greeted me politely. An elderly woman came up to me and ask what I wanted for breakfast, I told her, and she brought back a plate of morning goodness with a cup of my favorite chocolate tea.

I took the plate and thanked her and walk over to the dining hall. More folks greeted me as I enter, I spotted Stephon at the head of the large table, he called me over to sit beside him and gave me a kiss.

"Morning love", he said. Morning, I replied back blushing. A muscular guy sat on his other side with a beautiful fair skinned lady next to him.

"Hello my Luna, the guy said, my name is Max, and this is my mate, I mean my girlfriend Rain. Hi, it's nice to meet you, she reached a handout to greet me, and I took it giving her a gentle shake.

I look to Stephon who gave me a reassuring smile, and a gentle squeeze to the hand. He cleared his throat, and the room went completely silent, you can hear a pin drop. Everyone gave their undivided attention; such a simple act holds so much authority.

"I would like you to welcome my mate and your Luna Grace, you would show her the respect like you show me, anyone who disrespects her will have to answer to me.

Do you understand? Yes alpha.

The confusion on my face must have shown more evident, Stephon and Max were eyeing one another as if talking through their minds, Max turn to me and said. Don't worry Luna, he'll explain everything, he nudges Stephon with his elbow before breaking out into a full laughter.

Stephon shook his head turning to me and said, don't mind him he's my beta and a complete asshole but I will explain everything to you later, ok. I nod him a yes and turn my attention back to my food.

I wonder if this is some sort of custom where they use these weird words like mate, Luna, alpha. I finished my breakfast and went back to my room, not long after the door opens. I knew it was Stephon, he stood there quietly without saying anything observing my movements.

If I wasn't confused then, I am now. Ever since I started coming here, I never seen anyone, it was always myself and him. Now, its like a whole village moved in overnight.

The confusion on your face is understandable, he said softly. I would be to, if I were in your shoe. There's something I need to tell you Grace, something that you humans doesn't know and believe that it doesn't exist.

Those people downstairs are from my pack, the Crystal Lake Pack and I'm their alpha. We... We are not like you love, we are werewolves, but we prefer the term shifters.

I spun on my heels and watched him. Is he freaking serious right now? Werewolves, I began. Stephon, werewolves do not exist, they're story creatures we read from books. I took a step back as he steps forward to me.

They are real love; all those people downstairs are. I put a hand up to stop him and his footsteps halt. Listen, are you in trouble? You said you had something important and here you are telling me some fable story to butter up to the real deal.

Is that it? Is that what you are trying to do? Because this joke right here. I made a crazy show of my hands.... It isn't funny. I expect this from kids but not you, Stephon! He watched, his arms crossed over his chest and is calm and collected as ever.

Is he enjoying this?

Trying to make me look like a crazy person, I know my house is a bit isolated but that doesn't give him the right to make me look stupid.

Grace, I can hear your thoughts, Stephon voice sounded in my mind. Great, I hope he's happy, now I'm hearing things. No, you're not hearing things love, look at me. I turn on my heels and saw him smiling at me. He walks to the door and locks it and turned his gaze back to me.

There it was again, a flicker of gold flashed in his eyes. The next thing I heard was breaking of bones and before I could blink a big silver wolf stood before me. Everything I thought was fake, was.... Real.

Impossible!

There must be some hidden cameras or a magician doing special effects. Werewolves were not real! It cannot be! Were the teachings they taught us at school all lie? How have they been secretive for so long?
