Sebastian's Pov
"I can tote your bag if you want," I offered. "Thank you," she said, handing me the bag. We fell into a comfortable silence as we walked home. Since I've been Emrie's familiar, I have never slowed down and seen this part of town.
I noticed a deer by the lake and was going to point it out to Phara. As I was turning my head, I heard the screech of tires and a door open. "Sebastian," Phara gasped as a body leaned out. She reached for me, and I reached for her, but she was too far away. When did she get so far?
"Phara," I yelled, dropping everything and running for her. She was pulled in as the vehicle took off, and so did I. I ran as fast as these legs could take me, but it wasn't fast enough. The vehicle soon became a distant object before it was gone.
Emrie trusted me to get her home, and I failed.
"Dammit," I yelled, running my hands through my hair. I looked around, hoping someone saw something I didn't, but no one was around. I ran back to our bags, grabbed them, and ran to Zhana's house.
I banged on the door, but nobody opened the door. "Maybe she put the key in her bag," I mumbled, fumbling through her bag. No key. I sat my bag on the porch and started running to the only other place I knew, the school.
The school was practically empty when I burst through the doors. My shoes squeaked as I ran to Malina's office. I had tears running down my face, but I didn't care. I failed. I didn't bother knocking and burst through the door.
Malina looked up with a relieved expression until she saw my face. She shoved Rebecca, who was leaning over her desk, away. "What's wrong, Sebastian?" "Where are the girls," she asked when she noticed I was alone.
"I'm sorry," I sobbed, shaking my head. "Sebastian, answer me," she growled through gritted teeth. "They took Phara, and Niala texted Emrie to come home because you said she could," I choked out.
Malina grabbed her keys and left the office. I scrambled myself up and followed behind. So did Rebecca. Malina calmly carried herself, but one look from her had you running for the hills.
"What can I do to help," Rebecca asked. "Get your sister." "I can... I can do that with my mind. Can I come," she asked. Malina answered with her eyes. We all got in, and Malina wasted no time and sped out of the lot. She was clearly going way over the speed limit.
"I know we're in a rush, but could you slow down," Rebecca begged. I understood Rebecca's fear. A turn was coming up. "Slow down," she yelled. Malina ignored her and effortlessly shifted gears, drifting. "Rebecca shut the hell up," Malina growled at a screaming Rebecca.
I was silently holding on for dear life in the back. All the pity and disappointment I felt were gone. Nothing but terror was left.
She pulled up to a house and got out. The closer we got to the house, the further the hair on my skin rose. It was all because of Malina. She slammed the door open and walked. "Isn't this breaking and entering," Rebecca whispered. "Shut up, Rebecca," I whispered back.
"Malina."
Third POV
"Malina," Niala greeted her sister.
Malina's anger only grew at the sight of her elder sister. Before the older could say anything else, Malina roundhoused her. She didn't stop there. She picked her up and hooked her in the jaw, followed by a cross in the nose.
"Where is she?"
Niala smiled as the blood ran down her nose. "Where's who," she wiped her nose. Malina was done playing her games. She didn't care if it affected her. That she could deal with, but this time, Niala went too far.
