Danni's feet hit the pavement as she sprinted down the sidewalk, feeling the beads of sweat drip down the sides of her face. Her eyes were fluttering from exhaustion, and she could barely make out the stretch of concrete ahead of her, but I refused to stop. She could feel them chasing her- calling, screaming, and reaching their claws out to capture her hair. They wanted to skin her and watch her burn in Hell.
These creatures weren't playing around.
Eventually, she was able to slide behind the brick wall of a large building. With a beam of moonlight hitting her face, Danni heaved as she squinted to see the forest across from her. A wooded border with tall trees of spruce and evergreen; just like the ones at Evergreen Creek. She fought back tears, remembering the night this had all started, and where it had led to. Please let Peggy be okay, Danni pleaded silently.
Please let this stop.
