Song: You can be the boss by Lana Del Rey

"Shh shhh, I think he's coming!" Robin silently whispered to Johanna, keeping her hands busy as she attempted to look anywhere but the man approaching the front desk. Jo, however, kept her eyes glued on him. She took note of the way he glanced over the room right when he entered.

His hand was placed in the pocket of his uniform, his posture was straight, and he exuded confidence. Within a few long strides, he was nearing the two women. The man wore a tan police uniform, with a black utility belt and shoes. Every other officer on the force wore the same attire, and yet on him, it just looked different, irresistible.

The closer he inched, the more Jo noticed the small things about him. His rolled-up sleeves showed off his toned arms and the sliver of a tattoo-covered partially by the fabric of the uniform on his forearm. She felt her cheeks heat up at the way his large hands gently gripped the police report in his veiny hands.

Jo couldn't help but think of his hands gripping her instead. She thought of how they'd look gripping her thigh, squeezing a little at the plush, soft skin. She shook the nasty thought out of her head.

How could she think such nasty thoughts about a stranger? A perfect-looking stranger?

Of course, Robin was no help. She chose to focus her attention on the computer in front of her. She clicked away, leaving Johanna stranded and frozen underneath his searing gaze. The man looked like an angel on Earth! To say she was under his spell was an understatement.

"Uh hi, I was wondering if you could show me where to file this. I'm new here, still getting used to the layout of this place. I'd really appreciate it." After he finished speaking, Jo wasn't even sure if she understood what he said, she was staring at his features. His voice definitely matched his looks, hot.

The man leaned on the counter, waiting for a response from Jo. She was getting a closer look at the man she was talking to. His messy dark brown hair was pushed back and his sweet golden brown eyes tracked her every movement.

"Jo!" Robin mumbled, trying to save her friend from unrelenting embarrassment. "Help him!"

Jo snapped out of her awkward trance and quickly stood up, her chair almost falling over in the process. "Of course, I'll show you where it is." She mentally scolded herself for acting so strange in front of the handsome lieutenant. Jo may have been good at fighting, but she was terrible with guys. Every time she was around a guy she found attractive, she'd mix up her words and end up twice as flustered. It took a great deal of effort for her to be smooth, let alone to flirt.

"Thanks for helping me by the way, I'm Steve Harrington." The man extended his hand for her to shake, which she did. She could smell his cologne now that she was this close to him. If the tattoos and sweet brown eyes weren't enough, he smelled fantastic. Jo could tell from the scent alone that it was most likely some unfamiliar expensive brand.

"It's nice to meet you, Steve. How long have you been working here?" Steve felt his heart soar when she said his name. He'd heard other women use his name over a million times by now, but the way it slipped from her tongue made him swoon.

Johanna was well aware that she hadn't introduced herself. She had seen the looks, the men that worked at the station who immediately lost interest once they found out who her father was.

Nobody wanted to date the chief's daughter. Johanna wanted a fighting chance before she got thrown away by another handsome stranger.

"Just a couple of weeks. I switched counties and Chief Hopper was nice enough to let me fill the position quickly." Steve looked down at her, picking up on the way her eyes darted from his face to the rest of his body.
