Alexa's POV~

I wake up to my phone buzzing frantically, I never get this many texts in a row.

Hey Alexa, wat r we doin @ Scouts 2nite??? ~ Jess

Yes, I'm in Scouts, I'm thirteen years old and need an activity to do and it's at the school right across from my house. Also there are some certain people in the group that I may or may not like...

We r staying @ the school & doin watever we want.

Don't get me wrong Jess is my best friend and I love her to bits but sometimes she can be a little stupid. See Jess is the kind of person who likes to be hyper and very loud. Me on the other hand, I can be loud at times but usually I keep to myself. Unless I'm babysitting my ten year old brother, Jake, and he's not listening, then it gets loud.

I quickly get up and go to my dresser to pick out today's outfit, My favorite dark jeans and BATMAN shirt. I put my hair up in a messy bun and head upstairs.

Where I'm from, its basically winter from October to May. Right now were heading to the end of March and its starting to warm up a bit. There's still snow on the ground and the birds haven't come back yet.

"Good morning Alexa, how was your sleep?" My dad asks as I walk up the stairs.

"It was fine."

"You now Alexa, your fourteenth birthday is coming up in a couple weeks. Is there any way you want to celebrate?"

"Why couldn't I have been born in a warmer month? We could set up tents in the backyard, we could go swimming. Last year for Jess' birthday we went camping and had a bon fire and went swimming in the lake and boating, it was 27 degrees the whole weekend. "

"I'm sorry Alexa, but by the time we realized we wanted another kid, Grace was already eight."

"Whatever, I have to go, and for my birthday I want to have friends over and we'll hang out in the basement. I'll tell people today", I say walking out the door.
