The Tapes

The pills. where had they fallen? Ah there they were next to his foot. reaching down to retrieve a small green tub from next to his foot. Moonclaws sighed He hoped Typhoon wouldn't forget him, he hoped Sunny would find the tapes and learn of their connection, he hoped that death would be easy for on the other side lay a better life.

*The next day*

As Typhoon strolled into her home room, she looked around for Moonclaws. She'd hoped that he would be here today so she could confess to him about her feelings arriving at her table where her friend group sat Typhoon took her seat. Kinkajou was quiet today and even Moon had stopped paying attention which was strange as Moon was usually the one reminding the others to pay attention in class. Quibli's head was laying on Winter's shoulder and his friend who normally would have pushed him off by now was doing nothing about it. As the  Mrs Ruby Blaze started marking the role Typhoon noticed that she'd missed a name and her hand shot into the air. " Yes Miss Sea?" the teacher's voice came. "I just wanted to know why you skipped Moonclaws Darkly's name on the role?" at the mention of her crushes name Typhoon saw Mrs Blaze flinch. "I take it you weren't told then Miss Sea? Moonclaws Darkly was found dead this morning with a packet of pills in hand. He killed himself Miss Sea." at this revelation Typhoon's hand dropped into her lap.

*A few weeks later*

Having attended Moonclaws' funeral and the reading of his will Typhoon had been shocked to find out  Moonclaws had left almost all his stuff to be given to be given to her including the motorbike he'd bought on his sixteenth. She'd been hoping to ride with him when he got his license not to wheel it home for her sister to teach her how to ride it so she could register it and get her license. Thinking back on it Typhoon realized that Moonclaws had hidden his depression with his role as the group's mental health counselor. 

"Typhoon!" Looking up from her book the aforementioned girl spotted her older sister Tsunami's friend Sunny standing in front of her ", thank god you heard me I was asking if you had received the tape my brother left for you yet?" as Sunny asked this Typhoon blinked before shaking her head. "What tape? Also, Moonclaws was your brother? " As Sunny nodded Typhoon realized that while her crush had been alive, he'd been very similar to Sunny personality- wise. "Back to the topic of the tapes, I suppose it's good you haven't received yours yet. My tape is the first of thirteen he gave them to me and told me 'When the time was right' to open it." At this Sunny opened her bag and brought out a vc tape and Walkman and handed it to Typhoon putting the pair into her bag " The others won't be as easy to obtain some of the 13 are very restrictive about the usage of their tapes purely because of shame, then there are those who are proud of what they did and will hand you it willingly." At this Sunny turned and walked away. Placing the tape and Walkman into her bag Typhoon stood up and left her table in the cafeteria.

 Arriving at the library Typhoon reached into her bag before pulling out the copy of Good Omens that she and Moonclaws had been reading before his death. now there was nothing more that Oceana wanted than for Moonclaws to come running around the corner bag hung over their shoulder, pins glimmering from where they sat a smirk beginning to form as he slid into the bench were they always sat together to read. looking up for a split-second Typhoon spotted Moonclaws' stepsister Moonwatcher approaching her. "Hey Typhoon, you know that we are all going through the same sort of thing, right? Moonclaws was my brother, and we may have had a few problems, but we always figured them out together even Sunny who it seems to be is my half stepsister understands that pain. we all know you had a crush on him but it's time to move on, come back to us in more ways than one." with this statement Moon sighed and placed a hand on her friend's shoulder before pulling her into a hug. Standing up to follow Moon Typhoon had a single thought " Why weren't his parents on the will?" before she began to follow her friend.

Sitting down at the table she and her friends sat at Typhoon noticed that Kinkajou and Glory were holding each other in a tight embrace which was unusual as unless going home the pair avoided each other like the plague. "You know how our parents left us at a young age and we were given to our grandmother Principal Grandeur," Glory began to speak "Well when Kinkajou was nine our grandmother adopted a young 'Orphan' Moonclaws and he became our uncle. Moonclaws got along with everyone in our family even Grandeur with her tight standards. Then one day I saw him talking to a couple on the lawn and even from my room I could tell he was screaming at them. Moonclaws watched them till they were out of sight. turns out the couple where Jou and I's parents. Then Battlewinner showed up with a DNA test claiming Uncle Moonclaws as her son and we never saw him again until we moved here." at this revelation the bell rang signaling the end of lunch and the group dispersed.
