They weren't ready. Izuku had theorized that they would change the finals up from what they had discovered to have been more robot fights the year before. Had even gone into a long spiel about the rapid progression of class 1-A after their unplanned encounter with villains at the USJ. But this little surprise had not been on his list of guesses.

Oh boy how he regretted not doing a full calculation of odds now. Hindsight sucked.

Because now he and Hitoshi were on a bus with All Might of all people. Heading to training grounds Gamma to go head to head with the Number One Hero. And whose idea was it to assign HIM to ALL MIGHT?! What was a quirkless nobody going to do against a quirkist powerhouse?!

But he had to try. If not for himself then for Shinso, the other boy's grade depended on this just as much as Izuku's and he would NOT make the boy fail just because he couldn't keep up. So with a deep breath he pulled his travel notebook out of one of his pockets and started planning. Tilting the page so the purple teen looking over his shoulder could read as well.

A couple of signed suggestions helped the greenette iron out the rough plan quickly. His friend caught a few blatant mistakes in his lines of thought. More practical lessons showing their helpfulness for the brainwasher. The smaller boy took his advice in stride, adjusting as needed to give them the best chance of passing.

By the time the bus pulled up to their testing area they had no less than three back up plans. Plan A was simple though, run, hope the man thought they would try to fight him and instead book it to the exit. Short and sweet. Get in, get the fuck out.

That didn't help their nerves any of course. It was just their luck that they drew the short straw of being paired with All Might. Surely Kaminari or Todoroki would have been a better choice for him.

But no. Someone had decided the two least physical students in class needed to go up against the most physical hero in the school. Lovely. But they had been issued the challenge so they at least had to try.

He knew Hitoshi really wanted to go to that camp. Izuku did too, of course. But the purple teen had said something a few days before about how he had never really left the city and was excited to see what the country side would really be like. So really, there was no way the green haired teen would go down without a fight, not after such a soft admission during a late night study session.

It only took five minutes for the test to set up once the bus dumped them at their site. All Might disappeared into the city scape, finding a place to start his own part from while the two teens stood outside the gate. And then the buzzer sounded and all three of them were in motion, watched closely by the rest of the students and teachers in the observation room, save Sero, Mineta, and Midnight who were enroute to their own test.

The two heros-to-be ran at the word go, heading straight through the fake city, aiming to cover as much ground as they could before they ran into their teacher/villain. They raced down the main street, managing to cover a little over half of the distance to the other gate before a large gust of wind blew them off their feet and away from eachother. Izuku landed with a clang against a guardrail, feeling his ribs protest as his breath was forced out of his lungs. He saw Hitoshi tumbling down the sidewalk opposite him, before the teen was forced to a stop by an unforgiving mail drop box.
