The first test was utter bullshit and Izuku wanted to speak to a manager. Why, if they wanted new heroes so badly, were they culling the numbers so harshly?! He was sure it had something to do with the number of undesirable quirks in attendance. He had counted several while they were in the midst of the free for all.
Honestly he wouldn't be surprised if he was one of the ones they assured themselves would fail. Well the joke was on them. Because the freckled boy And his 'villain's quirk' boyfriend had made it through the madness.
And now they were waiting to see if their other two paramours would do as well. Izuku had predicted that the other schools would try and break them up out of their class group, so he and Yaoyorozu had quickly devised a plan outside of their changing rooms. Diving the whole of class A into two to three people groups that were prepared to go with the illusion of being taken by surprise.
And they did give the basic appearance of shock as Shindo showed up and literally rocked their world. But with quick clasping of the hands of assigned partners no one ended up alone. And everyone had the perfect supporting quirks for their own favored tactics.
Hitoshi had held three people under his influence while his smallest boyfriend ran by and gently tagged targets. And then they switched out, the blur of black and red distracting a target with hand to hand while his purple shadow took aim. They were some of the first into the waiting room after they handed in the borrowed electronics that had been attached to their costumes.
Truthfully they had barely had time to browse the snack table before the rest of their class started to steadily flood in. Kaminari and Todoroki showed up fairly quickly, the combination of both electricity and the water created when Shouto melted his ice was apparently as versatile as Izuku had predicted. Denki talked a mile a minute as he went over their tactics and knockouts.
The four of them chatted with their friends near the snacks. Laughing and going over the highlights of their fights. Doing their best to ignore the looks they were getting from the others around them. Izuku was glad to see that all of his class, save Mineta who was still who knew where with Aizawa, had made it through the first test. Though Mina and Sato cut it pretty close.
When the second test was announced all of them were thankful they wouldn't be fighting the older and more experienced students again. They might not have gotten much actual rescue experience thanks to the whole USJ mess. But Aizawa had gone over theoreticals and guidelines extensively to try and make up for it. So 1-A felt fairly confident that they wouldnt fuck up too badly. Probably. They were an overall optimistic bunch.
When the buzzer sounded they were off enmasse. Putting themselves forwards to help wherever they could. Uraraka in particular shining with her quirk, making rescues leagues easier. Though she made sure to stick close to either Izuku or Yaomomo so they could make sure everything was stable enough so she did not cause an avalanche.
Izuku was putting his muscles to work, occasionally stopping to gently direct those who needed a nudge in the right direction. But for the most part he was stepping in to carry 'civilians' who were too 'injured' to walk to the triage station that had been set up. He did spare a half a thought or wistfulness for the forceshield he had made just for such a station. Before mentally sighing. The one big enough for that large of an area was way too big to just carry on him. Maybe he could put it on some sort of drone and have it come to him when he pressed a button?
