It was a day that started like any other. I woke up smelling the eggs and bacon cooking on the stove and the sound of bird’s chirping. When I went down stairs, I saw little Cody making eggs and bacon for breakfast. Little Cody and I were going to see a real space shuttle today. He was very excited to go that he even went shopping to get a pyjama space suit. So after we finished our meal I took the cars keys and went outside. Not shortly after, I walk out the door little Cody was behind me and ready to go.

When we got to the station, Cody was sleeping. I guess he was so excited the night before that he didn’t sleep all night, which explains why he was up so early, so I carried inside to wake him up just before I went to talk with the commander of the space craft that we were going to be watching. When he woke up, he thought he was still dreaming, so I pinched him and then he punched me. I ignored the punch or else, we would get in a huge fight and he would blame me because we didn’t get to watch the space shuttle launch. Little Cody had to go to the little boys room, he screamed at me when I followed him. He claimed he was old enough to go to the bathroom without me with him.

It has been 20 minutes after little Cody left for the bathroom. I was beginning to get worried what if something bad happened to the little guy? What if he got lost? How will I be able to find him in such a big station? The shuttle was going to launch in 5 minutes.

Little Cody had gone to the bathroom, but not in the correct area. Instead little Cody had gone to the bathroom inside the rocket! But he didn’t know it of course. All of a sudden Cody felt the ground rumbling and thought it was an earthquake so ran to find me, but found nothing, instead he found a room that was full of men wearing space suits, when he went to look outside the window he had realized that he wasn’t at the station, but inside the rocket!

Little Cody began to cry, that’s when the men in suits turned around to notice the small child. Meanwhile at the station I was looking all over the place for Cody, I began to ask people if they’ve seen him and when I asked the commander he had suggested that the security were to search the station, because he knows that I’m able to sue him for missing child on his property. While the security searched the station, the commander received a call from the rocket that a strange child was aboard the rocket. When I heard that news I demanded to talk with the chid as if I knew it was Cody, and it was him.

While Cody was stranded on the rocket, I was talking with the commander trying to reason with him to call the flight off so Cody can return safely, but he continued saying that the rocket has already reached the Earth’s atmosphere and cannot return in less than two or three days. I felt the urge that this was my entirely my fault, that if I didn’t let Cody go by himself to the bathroom this incident would never have happened. But what our parents used to say “if something manages to go wrong try to make the best out of it” so we tried.

I had asked the commander if it was alright if I stayed at the station until Cody returned. He didn’t mind at all, in fact he also felt that it was his fault, that he said that the crew usually checks the rocket before launching. I was so worried for them, I keep thinking of movies were the rocket gets hit with a meteor and nobody survives but I was thinking too much, on the other hand little Cody tells me that the view is wonderful in space and that the planet looks beautiful from the distance, he told me that floating was so much fun, that everything floats around even when they were sleeping, he sounded so happy that he didn’t realize that I was so worried for him, I mean who wouldn’t be scared for their little brother hanging around in space with no real parent supervision. The men there can’t, because they’re too busy doing their job. Little Cody doesn’t know anything about all the technology in that rocket. What could happen if he accidently touched something, that could do something horrible and I’ll never see or hold him ever again.
