A Month Later in Jay's POV:
"So, what are you saying exactly?" Chris' mom asked as she looked between the both of us.
He sighed and I looked down.
"Jay? Somebody say something. We need answers and we need them now." My mom said with assertion as my eyes stayed connected to the floor.
I didn't even know what to say.
Chris and I have been living in Italy for a month so far... it's not as hot in Miami, but it still kinda is.
Meech and Justin have been waiting for the heat to die down before they try the plan again.
They were questioned by the feds, but neither of them cracked.
Our moms have been looking for us and have been trying to see us in person for a while. Chris thought it would be a good idea to fly them out here.
One, because they've never been and he thought they'd love it. Two, they wouldn't be on our backs about a so called "long-term" vacation and not seeing us.
Unfortunately, his mom was greeted by a member of the DEA about Chris being wrapped up in an investigation...
So, she told my mom, we thought they came here just see us, but they were plotting the whole time... and here we are...
"I mean... it's just old shit.." Chris said as his mom scoffed aggressively.
"Old?? Well then why am I hearing about it now?! Why is this a today problem!?" She exclaimed.
"I mean ion' know what you expect me to say. The shit you hearing about, ion' do it no more." Chris said plainly.
"Christopher Maurice Brown, don't you dare take that tone with me when this is your doing! What I want is an explanation. Once again, why is it a today problem?! What exactly were you doing?? I wanna hear it from your mouth." She said as he looked away in an irritated manner.
Mama J then turned her attention to me.
"Since I'm obviously talking to a brick wall, I'm gonna ask you then."
A lump formed in my throat... here we go.
"Jayde? What was he doing??" Mama J asked.
"It's honestly not my place to tell you that... he has to give you further insight." I said.
It's her son... I don't really have a right to tell his business. I've never done that and never will.
"Don't do that. This is just as much your place as it is his." Mama J said.
"Well Joyce, she does have a point. Only Chris can tell you the ins and outs." My mom said.
"How do we know that she wasn't in on any of——" Mama J said as I furrowed my eyebrows and Chris immediately cut her off.
"Jayde ain't have shit to do with this. She wasn't in on anything. I actually tried my very hardest to keep her away from everything I was doing. So, leave her out of it." Chris instructed as I placed my hand on his knee.
The tension in the room was very thick... you could barely slice through it.
"Why are you doing this?" Mama J asked him.
"Doing what exactly?" He inquired.
"Constantly beating around the bush. I mean this is serious Chris... I thought you would just tell me the truth and explain why the DEA popped up on my front door step. I never thought you would hide things from me." Mama J said as he scoffed.
