Hazel's POV
"Go along with what I say." Alexander whispered.
I nodded slightly then let Alexander talk, he turned and faced my father, still holding on to me.
"Hazel was struggling to breathe so she tried to swim over to the side to catch her breath. However she accidentally swallowed some of the water and began coughing. She was struggling to stay above the water so I held her up. I'm tall so I can reach the floor. I kept hold of her as she was coughing and spluttering so she didn't sink underwater. As you walked in, Hazel was catching her breath." Alexander explained.
My father stared at us before stating "oh well I suppose I must offer thanks to you Mr Arcady. Are you ok Hazel?"
I nodded then took a few deep breaths to make Alexander's lie convincing. Evidently my father bought it as he walked out of the pool room.
"Quick thinking Longarms" Daisy commented.
"Thank you irritating blondie." Alexander grinned.
I burst out into laughter - as did George and Amina. Daisy glared at everyone before grumbling, "I hate you all."
That only made me laugh harder.
"No you don't." Smirked Amina.
Daisy turned pink.
"Does she..." Alexander whispered in my ear.
"Yep." I responded quietly.
Alexander and I giggled.
"Alex are you going to let go of Hazel, she's just your friend after all." George smirked.
"Shame." I whispered under my breath.
Alexander turned bright red. Wait why was he so embarrassed. Did he like me...I-I-I think he might.
Alexander's POV
Hold up. Wait a minute. Did Hazel just say 'shame' when George said 'shes just your friend after all'.
Does she like me? No she can't like me. She deserves someone much better.
Hazel blushed but let go of me - what a shame. She swam over to Daisy who mutterd something to her causing her to blush.
George swam over, smirking "did you enjoy that."
I blushed and George laughed.
"Are you going to tell her?" He asked doubtfully, it was as though he already knew the answer.
He was of course right because I responded "no."
He rolled his eyes "if you don't tell her soon, I'll tell her myself."
"No don't." I responded quickly.
I couldn't loose Hazel. She's my best friend. My best friend who I can't help but have a crush on.
Hazel's POV
"So Hazel did you enjoy your... whatever you were doing with Alexander?" Daisy asked.
I blushed. I did enjoy it actually.
"You two looked cute." Smiled Amina.
I blushed again.
"Thank goodness for Alex's quick thinking, if I said something I don't think father would have believed my excuse." I grinned.
"He believed you yesterday." Amina reasoned.
"True but I don't think he'd believe me again" I responded.
"Soooo are you going to tell him?" Daisy asked.
I shrugged "it depends, I'll see what happens."
"Wow I wasn't expecting that answer." Daisy gasped.
"Why did you never tell him before?" Amina asked.
I shrugged. I didn't actually know. I guess with Alexander liking Daisy, my grandad dying and trying to solve murders. I never had a chance to speak to him.
"Why didn't you put it in a letter?" Daisy asked.
"I didn't have the courage." I mumbled.
"You certainly have gotten a lot bolder Hazel." Daisy commented.
