Cayden was sitting at the bar staring into the cup of whisky that was placed before him, by Gail, thinking about the kiss he shared with Equin. Even though he just met the girl, it felt right. Those thoughts didn't last long as someone sat down next to Cayden, breaking him from his thoughts. "Can I help you?"

"Actually, you can. You can be a huge help to all of this town, if you stay away from Equin Timmins," The man said.

"Excuse me? I didn't know that you didn't approve of me and the pretty lady getting to know one another a little better," Cayden said.

"Equin is off-limits. Nobody is allowed to show any interest in her. If you try and pursue Equin Timmins, there will be hell to pay. We don't want to have to pay for your ignorance for not listening and chasing a woman who is off-limits," Carter said.

"Who is off-limits, Carter," Equin asked causing Carter to stop talking to Cayden.

"I was just having a friendly conversation with our new patron is all. Wanted to give him a warm welcome along with how things are done in this town," Carter explained while leaning in a bit."

"Is that so? Come a bit closer Carter. I have something I want to tell you," Equin said. Carter leaned in closer. "Come now Carter. Don't be so shy. I promise I won't bite you. Come a little bit closer."

Carter leaned in a bit closer. "Is this good?"

"If I were you Carter, I would be a little less worried about what everybody else is doing. I would be more worried about myself and what Connor would do to me, if he thought I was making a move on the said forbidden girl," Equin said before taking a quick glare in Connor's direction. "From the looks he's giving; Connor doesn't seem amused by what you are doing right now. You might want to run on home and lock your doors and windows for the night, before Connor gets up and makes his way over here to handle business with you personally. I would hate to see what Connor does to you if he got his hands on you."

Carter glanced behind himself and spotted Connor looking in that direction with no emotion on his face. Carter turned back around looking pale in the face before speaking up. "I think I stayed long enough. I really should be heading back to the house now. Have a good evening." Carter wasted no time in leaving the bar.

Cayden shook his head before speaking up. "That guy is truly afraid of that big guy."

"Most people fear Connor. Rightfully so too, because Connor is known to have a bit of a temper. Oh, John said he will meet you outside of the bar to speak to you. I wouldn't keep him waiting. He's a good man, who could use the help around the farm," Equin said before Cayden got up and walked away.

Once Cayden was out of sight, Connor got up and took his seat in front of Equin. "You seem to be getting close to the new guy already."

"What on earth are you talking about? I'm just being a good barista talking to my customers; or is that not allowed now," Equin asked.

"Equin, babe I know that you're a good barista and that you talk to everyone. But it seemed to me like you were favoring the new guy. Is there something going on between the two of you," Connor asked.

"I already told you. Before you say anything, I did not forget the agreement that was made. The very agreement that I had no part of, but still have to honor, because you and Mayor Robinson both signed the treaty. Do you always get this paranoid about every person around you Connor," Equin asked.

"Only those who are to be mated to me...or did you forget that you're about to be of age, where you will not only go through your first change, but you will be going through your first heat as well," Connor asked.

"I didn't forget about that. I was under the impression that I would be in my own bedroom alone during my first heat. But you approach me, getting paranoid reminding me of my first change and my first heat. If you're worried that other males would be around myself, they won't be. It will be Angelina and I in our own respective rooms until our heat is over. So, you don't have any reason to get all paranoid," Equin snapped.

Connor nuzzled his face into Equin's neck before pulling away. "I will take your sudden burst as your heat happening real soon."

Cayden walked out of the bar making his way to his bike, when he remembered that he had to talk to the guy named John. Cayden approached the man. "Are you John Tollerman?"

"That I am. You must be Cayden. Equin asked me for a favor. She asked me to give you a place to stay, as well as work. You know she put in a good word for you. That and she has been worrying about me doing all the farm work myself," John explained.

"She really said all of that about me," Cayden asked.

"Yeah. Equin is a kindhearted girl who is always looking out for anyone. Her sister Angelina is the same way. But their older sister, Gail, is the more guarded one. She's also highly protective of Angelina and Equin," John explained.

"Why," Cayden asked.

"Because they are all that each other has. Their parents died when they were young. I helped look after those three girls. I made sure that they had everything that they needed. My wife Clara considered them to be like daughters to us. Speaking of my wife Clara, come. I'll show you your new place of residence as well as employment. Besides, I believe it will be nice for you to gain yourself another ally. If you even find yourself to be in a situation with Connor," John said before getting in his truck and starting it up. Cayden made his way over to his bike, climbing on before following John to their destination. It didn't take long for John and Cayden to arrive. When they did, they spotted a woman standing on the porch waiting. John climbed out of his truck as Cayden made his way over to John, before both approached the porch where the lady was standing.

"John Tollerman, you had me worried sick. You said you would return home for lunch. Here you are pulling up in time for dinner," Clara said before turning to Cayden. "My apologies for my poor manners. I'm John's wife, Clara. You must be starving. I made plenty of food for you to have. Thank goodness I make more than enough."

"I'm Cayden, the new farmhand John hired," Cayden said.

"Well, it's about time this stubborn fool hired someone to help him out. I keep telling him he can't do it all alone," Clara said.

"Equin talked me into giving the kid a job and a place to stay," John said.

"You saw Equin? Did you tell her to come on by," Clara asked.

"Yes, I did. Equin said she will be stopping by some time tomorrow," John said.

"Don't you dare let her do any of the labor that is for our new farmhand. That's why we hired him, so he could help you out," Clara said.

"You know how Equin is. She is stubborn and will do what she wants anyway," John replied.

"I know I just wish she would think about herself. She can't always be out there helping you swing heavy hay bales around," Clara said.

John laughed. "You can tell her that tomorrow."

"You know I will. Don't forget to show this fine young gentleman where he will be living since, he's your new farmhand," Clara said before walking away.
