It took Lata two days to call Warren, not because she was playing some mind game or wasn't interested but rather she was nervous and busy. Lata was a full-time student and worked part-time on campus to pay the bills and her necessities.

It wasn't that Lata has never been on a date, she had. It's just the last two boyfriends she's had they broke up with her because of her ambition for a career in the science field and that always messes with her confidence when wanting to date someone.

There was also the fact that Warren was a drummer, in a band, and while they weren't so big she could tell they wanted to make it big. There was some insecurity in that because it could mean one day Warren would be surrounded by women wanting him.

Being stuck on a homework problem Lata looks over at the note she'd taped on her desk wall knowing she could avoid the homework problem by calling the number on the paper. So she walked out of her dorm room and out into the hall at the phone on the wall she calls the number that was once inked on her arm

Billy: Warren was not playing the best he could the days after we'd all met Lata. Camila was the one to tell me it was because he [Warren] was waiting for Lata to call

Camila: It was so obvious Warren was distracted by Lata not calling, he was hooked and she had no idea. The day Lata did finally call, Warren played better than he had that whole month

Warren: Lata finally called and I asked her out

Eddie: Warren wasn't a chick magnet back in Pittsburg, but he had game. Watching him talk to Lata over the phone, he was not smooth - he asked her to 'hang out'

Lata: When I called, Eddie answered and we talked for a bit while Warren came to the phone, then he [Warren] asked if I wanted to hang out. I didn't know it was a date

They'd agreed to meet up in the afternoon when they were both free from responsibilities, only Lata didn't know where they were going. Putting on sunscreen and then spraying some perfume Lata grabs her bag and races out of her dorm room thinking she was already late.

Lata made it to the spot the band had dropped her off two nights prior and there was the light green van with a white stripe through it parked by the curb. Warren sees Lata before she could, making him get out of the van and walks over to the passenger's side to wait for her. Three feet away from each other Lata smiles at him with a squint in her eyes not having worn glasses unlike him who wore black round glasses

Lata wasn't expecting him to even get out of the car so when Warren opens the passenger door she smiles and gets in. Warren jogs back to his side of the car and enters starting the car
