 Chapter 10

The rest of the day went by pretty quick; before I knew it I was shutting my computer down and gathering my things before walking out the door locking it up.  I hurried home so I could shower, I had no idea what to wear, so I checked my other closet in my guest room and found a navy pencil skirt with a sleeveless silk top and my navy blue blazer.  I put on a 4” pair of coach pumps.  I put on my diamond tennis bracelet and my diamond studs.  I checked my hair, and put eyeliner on and added my favorite lip gloss.  I did a once over just to be sure I was looking great.

I walked downstairs just in time, my phone was ringing I picked it up and looked at the caller ID on the phone it was Shaun.  I answered the phone knowing I probably should have let it go to voicemail.

“Hello?”

“How are you doing babe?”

“I’m doing well; what are you up to?”

“Nothing just came in from work to eat take a shower and get back to work, gotta long night ahead. We are trying to close a case we have been working on for the last 7 months and I think we are getting closer. Hopefully we will be successful.”

“Oh wow, you have a long night ahead. I hope everything goes well for you. I know how hard it is to have to spend so much time on your job; I have had some of those days.  Please be careful and call me tomorrow and let me know you are alright if you have time.”

“Ok sweetheart, take care of yourself as well and I hope to see you tomorrow, and Nikki I want you to know that I am falling for you hard. I don’t want to scare you I know we have only been seeing each other for a short time, but you make me feel things I have never felt for a woman before.”

“You don’t scare me, but I don’t want you to think about that right now, just concentrate on your mission and stay safe for me.  I care about you too Shaun; Please be very careful.  I will talk to you later.”

“Bye Nik”

“Ok bye”

Just as I ended the call, the doorbell rang.  I went to the door and looked through the peephole and saw Kevin standing out in the hall at the door with a bouquet of flowers.  I opened the door and let him in. 

“Don’t you look beautiful tonight?”

“Why thank you, you’re looking pretty hot yourself”

“These are for you, I hope you like them.”

I reached up and gave him a quick kiss, but before I could turn and walk away to find a vase to put them in, Kevin grabbed me around the waist and started giving me light kisses on my lips, face and down my neck.  I stepped back and put the flowers on the table turned around and let Kevin wrap me up in a tight embrace.  He kissed me with lightly with butterfly kisses on the lips before he kissed me like it was his last day on earth.

I don’t know what got into him, but he was really worked up, but it was ok I need a tune up right now.

“Well what’s got you all hot and bothered?’

“You baby, do you have to ask?”

“I just had to ask.”

 "

Are you ready to go?”

“Yeah sure, whenever you’re ready.”

 We left my house, the restaurant was about 15 minutes but the car ride was very quiet.  I had so much on my mind because I am having second thoughts about me and Kevin.  I don’t know why, I guess because we haven’t been spending a whole lot of time together.  It seems Kevin has picked up more cases.  I guess he can’t help that his firm is doing well, but he as 4 other attorney’s in his office why does he feel he has to take on so much.

I wonder what his big news is today.  I just hope he doesn’t ask me to marry him that would be disastrous. 

“Here we are, hold on a second.”

Kevin got out and ran around to my side opening the door and reached for my hand.  I grabbed his hand and got out of the car.

“Come on beautiful, I don’t want you to catch a cold out here. I have to keep my sweetheart warm.”

He reached over and gave me a kiss on my cheek; he sure was in a good mood.

We walked into the restaurant and before Kevin could say anything, the host told him our table was ready. Kevin thanked him with a tip he bowed and smiled as he walked away.
