Sixth year and a war was beyond on the horizon. In plain sight, anyone could see the war was about to take place as people began to pick sides the previous year.
Many felt defenseless as they lost family to the Riddle Name. Worst part of it all, Rila was destined to have to worship said name.
Rila Black was Regulus secret daughter. Her mother was a woman named Aisha. No one had discovered her last name before Black. She was assumed to be pureblood, and that's all Rila ever knew. Rila lived with the Malfoys to keep her living conditions pure.
To be raised and groomed for some fellow pureblood to be in an arranged marriage and keep their bloodline pure while producing an heir for them to raise. It was sick how society viewed the witches of the Wizarding World. Well, at least those of pureblood status.
So as Rila boarded the train for her sixth year, she feared for herself as she watched a new boy who she herself had met plenty of times also happened to be going to Hogwarts for the year.
Matteo Riddle, son of Tom Riddle, a boy, soon to be ruler of the Wizarding World.
Rila was not a blood purest much to her adoptive family's raising and care she was just never fond of it. It felt as if her destiny was meant to be something more, just like her father. He had left her a letter which she held with her always explaining what would happen to him. She never went anywhere without it and always had it concealed.
It was the only thing she had while he was in hiding. He never went anywhere with her, and when she snuck away to visit him, it was rare, and the highlights of her life were with him.
"Ready for our second to last year," Draco spoke up as they sat in a compartment with Theodore Nott and Matteo Riddle
"Mhm," Rila hummed in agreement before sitting in front of Matteo, making sure to keep her head down as she messed with the hem of her uniform skirt
She hated waiting to change and wore her uniform the entire train ride to Hogwarts even if people found her strange for doing so. At least the teen girl felt prepared at all times.
"Ah, almost forgot Matteo, you remember my sister Rila, Rila, you remember Matteo?" Draco re-introduced
"Of course, hello, Rila." Matteo spoke up with a smirk as he watched the girl look up and give a polite grin nodding her head before looking back down
The girl refused to speak to someone who viewed the world in such ways, with such cruelty. His animalistic behavior sicken her. Rila found it hard to lie to someone with power. So she stayed quiet instead
Draco sighed. He was used to Rila not speaking much to others. However, most of the time, he couldn't help but keep wishing she'd speak more than a view word.
Rila had some of the best marks in class and would talk to him alone with some of the best ideas he'd ever heard of.
Without another word, the four traveled to Hogwarts only making small talk before arriving shortly after Rila riding in their compartment and just following Draco around for the night.
Rila knew better than to speak in front of a Riddle. She also knew better than to think anything in front of a Riddle.
Legenensey was something Rila herself had mastered long before Draco, and she then taught herself Oclamencey as well.
Anything to protect herself from the Riddles as she came up with a plan. One that would be dangerous and maybe even get her killed.
She was her father's daughter after all, so perhaps maybe she two could fake her own demise and live a happy life running away from war only this time by her father's side.
A/N to think I've had this sitting in my drafts since 2021 is crazy 😭
