Kaguya Shinomiya was not a very popular, outgoing person at school. Her personality reflected this and often led to her being ignored. However, she had many admirers because of her looks, talent, and popularity. Many boys found it difficult to approach her, however. When they tried, their efforts to talk to her, she always responded in kind with sarcasm, snide remarks, or outright disdain. She did, however, have one friend who was different from her usual crowd.

His name was Miyuki Shirogane, and he also shared her interests. He enjoyed reading, drawing, photography, and writing fanfiction and anime; his favorite subject was manga, and he dreamed of becoming an author. The two met while they were both in elementary school and they soon began sharing similar interests. They continued to go to school together until middle school when the two decided to spend more time together outside of school.

Over time, Miyuki had developed some feelings for her, he couldn't get himself to confess, so he would sit in his room a play his guitar which he had written songs for her. This continued until high school. They still played together and hung out occasionally, but it was more than friendship now. Kaguya had developed feelings for him in middle school too, so she could understand how he felt but didn't want to risk losing the relationship they had developed. It hurt knowing that she could never confess her feelings for him, but she needed him. If he felt something for her too then he may reject her, but she would rather know how he felt before anything else happened. So, she remained silent and let him go on with things, even though part of her secretly wished that he might confess his feelings to her first. As the three-year of their friendship mark passed, Miyuki's desire to confess grew stronger, but he held back his emotions for fear that Kaguya would see it as a rejection and think he was just saying it to be nice. He wanted to tell Kaguya everything that he felt about her but there wasn't much chance of that happening. He finally decided on February 8th to bring his guitar to sing a song at lunch he had written about her.

As they both walked to school that day, guitar in his hand, Kaguya couldn't help but ask what the guitar was for.

"Hey, Miyuki what's the guitar for?"

"oh... well... um..." Miyuki was blushing profusely and looked at the ground while scratching his Cheek, "Well you see I was going to ask if maybe you wanted to go to the park this afternoon and watch the sunset, do you like that?"

Kaguya's heart skipped a beat and immediately began pounding.

"Oh!" She managed to say, "Yes! That sounds lovely~" as gave him a smile as bright as the sun. Miyuki's heart fluttered at the sight, and he smiled back at her. They began walking to school holding hands. It was an innocent gesture among friends, yet the butterflies that were fluttering around inside of them made each second seem like a century.

*Time Jump to Lunch*

When it was lunchtime, Miyuki took the opportunity to make his declaration. He grabbed the guitar and started playing a simple melody and lyrics for her. Kaguya stopped in her tracks as she saw all the other students stop what they were doing to watch. Her heart sped up, and her mouth went dry, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. Tears of happiness. Kaguya turned around to see Miyuki staring at her with love in his eyes. She returned the gaze, her heart fluttering.

As Miyuki finished singing, they stood looking into each other's eyes lovingly for several minutes before someone shouted out "Oi! Why don't you two get a room?" The two quickly looked away from each other, blushing furiously. They laughed nervously as they finished their lunches and entered their respective classes.

The rest of their school day was uneventful except for that moment when Kaguya was in her homeroom, Miyuki's confession came up in conversation. "What was Miyuki singing to you in lunch earlier today?" A student said, referring to Miyuki's sudden passion in his music.

"He sang about Kaguya." Another added. "It was really cute, it seemed like he had such genuine feelings for her." The student said, causing laughter. Kaguya looked over and spotted Miyuki staring at her. He flashed her his signature cheeky wide grin, which she returned with a small smile and a blush on her face. They spent most of the remainder of the period with their eyes glued to each other, unable to pay attention. At the end of the day, they walked home together, holding hands.

As they reached Miyuki's house, Miyuki leaned in closer and whispered, "Do you want to come inside?" Kaguya nodded. As they stepped inside, Miyuki closed the door behind them, and they kissed deeply.

Kaguya' fingers dug into the front of Miyuki's shirt, pulling him closer. Kaguya pulled away from him panting, and Miyuki put his arms around her waist. She rested her head on his chest and sighed happily. After a few moments, Miyuki broke the silence, "Are you sure about this Kaguya?" Kaguya nodded, "Yes, I'm sure. I have feelings for you too. I've been harboring these feelings for quite a while, it's only natural for me to feel attracted to you as well." "You mean feelings like...?"

"Yes, like that." Kaguya replied, her cheeks flushed red. He wanted to ask, 'Then, will you be my girlfriend, Kaguya?' Instead, Miyuki grinned, pulling her close once again, and kissed her passionately. The kiss lasted for several seconds as they lost themselves in each other's arms.

After they parted, Miyuki carried her bridal style to the bedroom.
