The Walls of Constantinople were finally breached by the Ottoman Sultan, Fatih the Conqueror in 1453. After building massive cannons for the sole purpose of bringing down the Walls of Constantinople, he laid siege to the city and on May 29th, 1453 he destroyed the Gate of Saint Romanus with artillery fire. And then 80000 ottomans breached the walls of Constantinople bringing an end to the dynasty of the Byzantine empire. During the fall ottoman troops were able to do anything against civilians during a pillage made possible by the sultan as a celebration of their siege . May 29nth 1453 the Byzantine Empire was struck down by a up and coming power.
