Chapter 12

I answered my phone after it kept ringing but was still perplexed about the flowers left for me.

“Hello”

“Hey lil sister, how are you?”

“Ebonyyyyyyyyy, I am so happy to hear your voice.”

“Well I can tell you miss me.”

“Yes, I really do miss you.”

“When are you coming home?”

“Hopefully next week; I have some vacation time I have to use so I was thinking about taking the week and come home.”

“Will Royce be coming too?”

“Not sure yet, it depends on his work schedule.  You know he has his patients and he wants to be there to deliver all the babies for his patients.

Maybe he will be able to work something out with his partner and come with me.  No promises, but we will see.”

“Girl we have so much to catch up on.”

“I know and I can’t wait.”

“I just called to say hi and tell you I’m coming home.”

“Ok Eb, I need to get to work too; I will talk to you soon.  I love you sis.”

“I love you too Nikki.  Bye.”

I grabbed my purse and walked out the door checking to be sure it was locked. 

I finally made it in to work, the morning traffic was outrageous.  Driving into downtown Atlanta is murderous.  Stop and go, stop and go I’m going to have to find me another way to work; maybe I just might start riding the Marta.  Why am I sitting her lying?  I am no more gonna ride the Marta than bungee jumping from the tallest building in Atlanta. 

I go straight to my office and open and close the door; I put my jacket on the hook behind the door and move over to my desk.  As I turn around I see another vase of roses, yellow and white.  I smile to myself thinking who is being so thoughtful. I read the card that accompanied the flowers and it read:

‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; and I cherish your beauty and will forever be there for you.’

I took another whiff of the beautiful roses and smiled how sweet of whom ever it is that thinks so much of me.

I put my flowers on the front side of my desk; put my purse away and headed down to the ER. 

“Good morning every one” I smiled as I thought of my wonderful gifts this morning.

“Good morning Dr. Taricone.”

“Well someone is in a good mood this morning.”

“Yes I sure am; it’s such a beautiful morning and it’s been such a joyous morning already.”

“Oh it has?”

“Yes!  I received the sweetest gift this morning, a vase with yellow and white roses.  They were breath taking and exquisite.” 

I couldn’t help the broad smile on my face.

“When I went to my office to put my things away, there was another vase with the same elegant flowers as the one delivered to my door this morning.  There is just one problem; I don’t know who they are from.  The cards only say sincerely, I’m yours.”

“Hmm that’s interesting; it’s not from your boyfriend?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well you are a very special woman to some one.”

“Yeah I guess so.  So what’s on the schedule for today?  Has it been busy this morning?  Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.”

“Ok will do.”

I walked back to my office unlocked the door and went to my desk still feeling the excitement of my little gifts this morning.  I took out my cell phone and hit speed dial for Shaun’s number.  I really missed him; I wonder how his case is coming along. I paused before I hit the call button, not sure if this was a good time to call.  Well here goes nothing and I hit the call button and the phone started to ring.

“Hello”

“Hi there handsome; how are you?”

“Now that I you have called much better. I am so glad to hear your voice Nik.  I have been thinking about you everyday since the last time we talked.  I miss those eyes, those lips, and that ass.  I can’t wait to have you in my arms.”

“I missed you too sweetie.  I haven’t had a moment where I didn’t think about you. I need to feel you so bad.”

“I know baby, I feel the same way.  Hopefully I will be finished in the next day or two then I will be all yours.  I will call you and let you know exactly when I am coming in.”

"Ok sweetie, just make sure you let me know when you are due to come in I want to take a couple of days off so we can spend some time together.”

"Oh don’t you worry sweet thang; as soon as the captain tells us we are clear to leave you will be the first person I will be talking to babe.”

“Ok, talk to you soon.  Oh and Shaun I think I’m falling for you too.  I hope that I’m not scaring you.  I know we just really started talking a few months ago, but I feel it too.”

“That’s what I want to hear.  Talk to you soon love; goodnight.”
