01 : new school

"Please be quiet, everyone!" The teacher entered the classroom followed by a male student who kept lowering his head a while ago.

Their presence caught the attention of students as they were curious to see what's happening next. People started whispering to each other but they were told to be quiet and waited for their homeroom teacher to speak.

"Today, we have got a new student. He transferred to Seoul a week ago. I hope you guys can treat him well. That's it. Please introduce yourself."

"Uh.. my name is Kim Sunoo. I hope we all can be friends!" Sunoo said, flashing a smile with a hope they will give a response too and they did.

He was so happy when he received a welcoming smile from everyone. Guess his misery will end soon.

"He's so handsome!"

"Omg, do you see his face? He has such nice skin, should we ask about his skincare routine?"

"We're getting a new competitor. Be careful with your girls."

Sunoo sat at the back of the classroom. He gave a warm smile to people and answered some of their questions before the class started.

His classmates were so nice. They invited him to eat lunch together at the cafeteria because he still has no friends. Sunoo couldn't help but be happy to make new friends. He couldn't make one back in his old school. At first, he was unsure whether he should agree to his parents to follow them to Seoul and live with them. He thought wherever he goes, it's still the same. He would still be in the same life, experiencing the same thing just like at his old school.

"Maybe my old school wasn't the right one for me.." He mumbled to himself before shoving the rice into his mouth.

"Aw, how can someone be this cute while eating?" She pinched Sunoo's check which made the boy stop his action and look at her clueless.

What the heck.. do I know you? He looked at her in confusion. His eyes repeatedly blinked.

"Who are you-"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Jiyeon." She smiled sweetly at him.

"Gosh, what's wrong with her?"

"There she goes again. She can't see a handsome guy."

"But she already has a boyfriend??"

People around were talking about Jiyeon and of course she could hear that but she tried to ignore it. Her attention was fully on the new student in front of her who's busy eating and didn't bother to talk to her.

"How come.. Why is he not looking at me?" She scoffed. This is her first time getting no reaction from a boy. Usually wherever she goes, the boy's eyes are always on her.

"Hey, what is the name of your old school?" She tried to make him talk to her.

"Mihue High School." Sunoo answered and he heard a spoon drop.

"What? You were from Mihue High School? The prestigious school in Daegu?" One of his classmates asked and he just nodded.

"Why are you even here?! If I were you, I would stay at that school till I die."

"What's up with that school, huh?" Jiyeon asked, getting curious because of the reactions.

"Well, not everyone can enter that school. Being smart is useless if you're poor. You need academic validation and wealth. Most people who graduated from Mihue High School most likely will become CEO or get a high position in a job. So.. why did you transfer Sunoo? Don't you feel any regrets about it?"
