Beep, beep, beep. Tara heard as her alarm swiftly woke her up from her peaceful dream. She slowly opened her eyes, rubbing the sleep away as the morning sunlight flooded in. The butterflies were already swarming gently in her belly even before she'd fully woken up and thoughts swarmed in her head about the day ahead of her. Her first day of college.
Tara was worried about college, she'd briefly mentioned it to Darcy a few times but she just reassured her everything would be fine. Tara just nodded in response but it always stayed in the back of her mind, she contemplated maybe the reason Darcy just brushed it off was because she was also worried but was trying not to think about it.
Tara and Darcy were going into college as a lesbian couple, it already created quite the stir at high school and Tara could only hope college would be different.
She checked her phone, sending Darcy a "Good morning! x" text before shuffling off her cozy bed and putting on the outfit she'd picked out the night before. A grey puffer jacket with a white cropped shirt and blue mom jeans with airforces. She sleepily went down the stairs and joined her parents at the big dining table.
Before long Tara was in her mums black ford focus and were driving towards college, it was a short drive and she watched as the building got closer and closer to her until they were outside. Tara's mum spoke up, "we'll have a good day love" she said, waking Tara from the daydream she'd caught herself in. "Thanks" Tara replied quietly as she jumped out the car and started walking towards college.
After waiting outside for a dew minutes she saw blonde hair bouncing towards her followed by a bright smile. Tara smiled, waiting for Darcy to get close enough to pull into an embrace. Tara noticed Darcy's outfit, a tie dye hoodie and black baggy ripped jeans. Darcy threw her arms around her and pulled her in tightly, her scent getting stronger with each breath, calming tara instantly and allowing her worries to drift away.
The girls then chatted outside, feeling hypnotised by eachothers eyes as they waited for Nick, Charlie, Elle and Tao to arrive.
