sanya's pov
I parked my new, maybe stolen car, in the campus lot a bit early before class to grab a few needed things from my dorm. She was a beautiful white Cayman Porsche which was something that made me excited for once. I hurriedly made my way back to the dorm to see Aamani at her vanity. "Hey," I said, closing the door behind me and finding a few books for today that I needed.
"Morning! Where were you last night?" She asked getting up. "Slept the night at a family friend's," I casually lied, stuffing the books on top of the concealed gun, karambit, and small devices. "Oh, you need to give me your number! I couldn't even find you on Instagram!" She exclaimed, now grabbing her bag. Instagram? I thought to myself and retraced its name from what Jane had taught me. "Oh! I'm actually not on social media, and yeah sure I'll give you my number, once I have my phone. I really don't know the number yet since I got a whole new number," I rambled.
That was probably the most I've ever spoken to Aamani in one take. Her face showed a visible expression of confusion and then she laughed at my ramble. "Okay," she assured and I followed her out. I still had to dissemble the phone Mattia had given me, but I never had the time or safe spot to.
Classes paced through the day like usual until the fifth period. I stood by the classroom door, awaiting the bell. A warm, rough hand suddenly engulfed mine and pulled me around to face them. I turned to see Mattia and his eyes gleamed at me as if I did not witness him murder someone the other day.
"Hey," he softly spoke. I tilted my head at his expression. "Hi," I said and bluntly asked, "Where were you yesterday?". Verity got flaked on, but Sanya knew — the two worlds were intersecting each other now.
"Is this thee Verity Ahn being concerned for me?" The smell of a sharp black vanilla washed over me as he stepped closer. I rolled my eyes in response and turned my head in the other direction. His hand found its way up to my chin and gently turned it back up to him so our eyes met.
The school bell rang and I moved away from him entering the room. "Okay, I'm sorry. I really was busy yesterday. Please, just let me make it up to you. I just want to know to get you be—"
"Not in here," I interrupted. He stopped talking and he looked taken aback for a second then his jaw tensed. He didn't say a word and took a seat beside me. There was no capability of guilt entering after what I had witnessed last night unless he had a valid reason, but I doubt there was one. I also couldn't take the risk of even more people finding out about whatever people assumed we had between us because there was purely nothing and I would rather be killed by my own karambit than date him.
"Class dismissed," the teacher concluded upon closing a textbook and everyone left the classroom. "I'll wait for you after class," he said, heading in the other direction.
"I won't."
Mattia stood beside the classroom door as I exited it after class. "You're like a clingy dog," I stated, leaving him by the door. "I like annoying you, he simply replied. "Why? You don't even know me," I scoffed.
"Because it turns me on."
I stopped in my tracks as soon as I processed what he said. I turned to him and he let out a chuckle. "I'm kidding Verity," he said and grabbed my hand again now leading me then mumbled something under his breath that I couldn't comprehend.
"Verity?" A voice asked from behind and Mattia and I stopped to face Amani. She beamingly smiled out of nowhere. "Dude! And she was in denial that you two were dating," Aamani looked up to Mattia now. "That's weird considering we're off to our second date." He looked at me.
