"ORDER UP! ONE HOT FRENCH VANILLA LATTE READY TO GO!" A young girl called out. The customer walked up grabbed it and immediately started complaining.
"This isn't my order! I ordered a small hot black coffee!" The customer threw it at the young girl's face and it busted open covering the barista head to toe. The girl looked at the customer with a blank face and just walked away to get her manager.
"Ms. May, a customer is being aggressive out there. I called out a hot French vanilla latte and they got mad at me for making their order wrong, said they had a small hot black coffee. Obviously I had made another person's order but they were to impatient to realize that," the girl told a middle age woman with long blonde hair and piercing green eyes.
"OH MY GOODNESS! Look at you, Briar! They threw it at you ! You poor girl. Nobody abuses my employees!" She got up and stormed out of the back and to the front counter. She could here yelling from the front, needless to say the police were called and the customer was arrested, as it turns out the woman was responsible for assaulting other baristas in the area and the police have been keeping an eye on her.
Briar went home early so she could get a shower and change. After taking a shower she sat down in her living room of her small one bedroom apartment and wondered if she should even go in the next day. She often wondered if her job was even worth but how else would she pay the bills if she quit. Briar got up and went to her window to look outside.
Today was a depressing rainy day. She looked out as the rain fell onto the pavement of the parking lot of her complex, thinking about recent events that occurred in the country.
Five years ago, the economy collapsed, rioting and pretty much all crime commenced. The governments true plans were revealed. Christianity turned out to be a lie, a concept made up by the government to divide people, LGBTQ+ was a lie as well, turns out some people were being administered certain drugs to make them think that way- more division was created. There are no longer police, the military has been disbanded, no one's leading this country anymore. Hell, the other countries don't even want it.
Briar walked over to a mirror she had sitting in the corner of her living room, she looked into it at herself. She observed her dull red, messy hair and her blank gray eyes. Her ghost white skin fit in well with it all she had to admit. she had slight curves but nothing to fancy. "I need to take better care of myself," she muttered before walking over and sitting on the couch. Briar turned on her tv and started numbly surfing Netflix to see if there was anything good to watch. After concluding there was nothing to watch on the platform she decided she was gonna do something crazy. All of a sudden she felt like going on a hike, a good way to clear the mind and feel at peace or so she has heard, so she got up, put some joggers and a hoodie on and tied back her hair in a messy bun. Not one of those cute buns that all the pretty girls seem to pull off but rather something that made her look like a troll. She laughed at herself in the mirror before grabbing her keys and setting out to her destination.
The hiking trail she was making her way to was an hour away but thanks to working such an early shift, she had a bunch of daylight left so why not use it right. This hiking trail was known for its water fall at the end of it. it was 2 and a half miles long, nothing to long but still a nice walk.. Where she lived it was one of the few things that was still beautiful around there, not many people know about this trail, so there is hardly anyone ever there.
Briar made the hour drive in just 30 minutes due to speeding, no more cops mean no more laws, one of the many reasons people are hardly on the road now. Mainly for work and necessary grocery shopping people with then leave. The road has now basically been turned into one big racetrack, the car fanatics have gone crazy over there being no laws.
